RE: What's everyone up to right now?

It's always really weird when I'm at a medical facility working and random men stop to try and engage me in conversation. I get the one-off comments about carrying around a tape measure and why I'm staring at the ceilings or what I'm drawing, but I had a guy yesterday who stopped in the middle of the hallway to talk to me, and then came back a few minutes later to tell me some story about a movie about an architect and why we shouldn't build skyscrapers...
It was really weird and creepy.

Pretty lady, doing manly construction-like stuff... what did you expect?
It's a technique where you try to find some common ground to start a conversation and see where it goes from there. In your case, the common ground was in plain view.
It's a great opportunity to meet people, you know... why did you feel creeped out?

Sharks don't bother me for some reason, but jellies and sting rays do (never had a rendezvous with either).

I don't know what it is about Americans, it's like you have this inherent fearlessness in your genes to where you'll go out into the sea with those creatures. Um-um, no, I'm gonna stay here and enjoy the sun on dry land ta.
I'm comfortable just sun-bathing on the sand
I do love a nice beach though, preferable with white sand and turquoise water. Beaches like that don't exist in the UK, the nearest one to me is mud instead of sand and brown (yes, brown!) water. DISGUSTENG.
LOL, uh yes America has a great deal of sharks (in and out of the water)
I guess Europeans don't really have to worry about shark attacks, it's such a rare occurrence there.

I don't think most men understand how scary it is to have a stranger who could potentially force himself on you come up out of nowhere and start talking to you like you're friends. It's not awkward. It's extremely scary. Of course, not all woman feel this way. Many don't have a problem with it.

Yeah, these bother me as well I've nearly been stung by jellyfish once or twice.

Just got to work not too long ago. I definitely love my job. *sarcasm*

I've actually swam with sharks a few times with no problems. However, I have been stung by jellyfish three times...and it really sucks.

I'm a guy and I feel that way (I'm disabled and as such, tend to attract some oddballs).

The reign of terror...
Fair enough, some men would force themselves and yes, you must be careful... but most will behave and you can be friendly with them.
Why put the good guys down, out of fear for the oddballs?
You can control the situation in an attempt to see if the guy is a creep or a nice guy... conversation helps.

How am I supposed to know which guys are "good" and which ones are "bad"?
If I have never met them, I don't know what kind of person they're, or if they're potentially dangerous.
So I prefer they don't come up to me, unless if there is a context. Context is very important when meeting people.

Well, when you start a job in a new place, you don't assume every guy in there is going to rape you. But you can bet some will talk to you... mostly about work... but, soon enough, about other things - team-building, they call it.
Why is it so different when a guy, not employed in the same place as you, comments on what he perceives to be your job?
