What's everyone up to right now?

It's to inform other people of the exciting, interesting, useless, boring, hum-drum, uber-awesome stuff you're doing. For example, in about half an hour I have to take my car to the shop to have my brakes worked on, then I have the rest of the day to clean, edit my sister's school paper, bang my head some more on the desk reading my theist penpal's latest response to our discussion... but really I'll probably put in a movie and nap on my couch. PSHAW!!! I BUY the John Corey books. ![]() The only reason I haven't bought it yet is because I'm trying to make myself stop buying books until I read the ones I already have queued up, and hopefully by the time I can get to it it'll be in paperback and way cheaper... or my mom will buy it for me for my birthday or something.

Today is a stupid day.

Catching up the mortgage comes first, or so I'm told. I really need to talk to the wife about her definition of "luxury." ![]()

Reading Kitan's posts and contemplating a nap. No World Cup today, but maybe Portland Thorns FC, even w/o Alex Morgan and Tobin Heath. Kind of boring day.

We need some more soccer fans in this piece for c172. If I knew what the hell was going on, I'd talk some s-cer with you. I'm sure I'll jump in the bandwagon if the women get far enough. #Allin
I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:
"I don't hang around with mostly men because I'm gay. It's because men are better than women. Better trained, better equipped...better. Just better! I'm not gay." For context, this is the previous verse: "Hi Jesus" -robvalue
Round of 16 right now. Kind of meh matchup for R16 (Colombia). If we don't win that one, some disaster happened.
Right now, just reading upon HUMMER, which, unbeknownst to me, was folded by GM during their contraction. I liked those vehicles even though mileage sucked.

I just have no idea when to be a soccer fan. Like, footbal, basketball, baseball; all season-based and with team schedules. And it's every year with a big competition at the end. What the hell is going on in soccer when it's not the World Cup? Is it like the Olympics?

Well, every country has its own league system (at least in men's soccer), from where NTs (national team) get players. MLS (Major League Soccer) runs from maybe April through December if you include playoffs. Lower leagues in the USA are the same, but shorter. And most European leagues run from late summer to the following late spring, or so.
National team matches can be all year, and if they are not part of a tournament (say, World Cup, Copa America, UEFA Cup, etc), they are called a "friendly". And most such matches are indeed that. My most useful links to follow American soccer are http://www.ussoccer.com U.S. Soccer Federation (national team system) http://www.mlssoccer.com Major League Soccer, the top men's league in America (NT'er Clint Dempsey is with Seattle Sounders FC, for instance). http://www.fifa.com/womensworldcup/index.html FIFA's Women's World Cup, for national women's teams every 4 years.
