In other words, it was trying to make the noise it makes when you turn the key to Acc, just before you get to the start position, if that makes sense.

What's everyone up to right now?

that means not enough juice.
New battery. (Unless you left something on and drained it. A charge will put it back to normal ...but probably dead at 5 yo.)
No God, No fear.

What I'm up to:
Woken up and realized I'm not at all well enough to go Xmas shopping. Staying in on AF and playing Mafia.
It's 4:58 and I'm up. Just had brekky. Ruined my t-shirt from Comic-con. Not sure what the day holds for me.

Volts were at 11; charge was at Zero. The guy said with the lack of charge on the battery and the voltage being what it was, he wouldn't be able to test the alternator. He asked me if I had a charger at home. I said no. He recommended I get it charged at a small garage for $20. Well that's money I don't have. I am broke. I have no idea of what a new alternator would cost. A new battery will run me at least $140. I just don't have the funds for this as we are trying to save up every bit we have to move in two weeks. I am so tired of these fucking road bumps that keep us from advancing even two steps. I can't even trust my car to get me to school tonight. I am so screwed. Where do you live again? I know really cold weather can drain a car battery, but with your battery being 5 years old I would say you probably just need to get a new one. If you're tight on money there are places that sell cheap used batteries for $40-60 they just aren't as reliable so don't be too surprised if you have to buy another one in 6 months or a year.
I'm in PA. But at this point, I can't guarantee that it is the battery. It could very well be the alternator, which, if it is, then I am screwed because we just don't have the money for a car repair right now.

Your car is only 5 years old but no warranty?
I bought it new in 2010 and it came with a standard 3 year/36,000 mi. warranty. Apparently I did not qualify for the extended warranty that I tried to get.

I'm sorry to hear about your car troubles, Judi; mine has been acting up all year and in various ways, but it's to be expected of a 15 year old car, not a 5 year old one! One full day of work left this week - tomorrow I leave early and Fridays are half days... counting the hours...
