We have 2 cats, it only works with one of them.  I tell him it's bed time, and go over to the door to upstairs (where he sleeps on the guest bed) and he runs over, goes thru the door, and then stops on the third step to get a quick rub behind the ears, and then I shut the door, and he goes to bed after checking food and water bowls, and putting a log in the litter box.

The other cat can be bribed to go where I want with food.  Frequently, I just carry an empty tupperware, and he follows.  I find actually giving him a food treat about 10% of the time insures the technique works every time.

Mine more put me to bed than I put them to bed. Riley always has to have night-time snuggles (usually when I'm reading) and then finally curls up by my feet, Rudy start either on the futon in the other room or on my chair in the living room and wanders in sometime during the night.

They also both steadfastly refuse to sleep in most cat beds unless it is put inside a cardboard box.

She meows, and stares at me. I will ask her questions, wanna go outside? etc. She runs to the bedroom when I say it's night night times.

Mine know "din-din time" and race me to kitchen.

I have one black and white girl who runs in with me as soon as I walk into the bathroom. She jumps into the bath when I run the water and slowly retreats as the water fills the tub. Then when I get in she hangs around and walks around the bath - sometimes falling in.

The first time I had a shower with her around she was horrified that she didn't have time to retreat from the water before it got her.

Don't you have concerns that they might be molested in the kitty jail showers?

They're brothers. And I have a water bottle if I see any suspicious activity going on. Besides... their need to want to hump things hasn't kicked in yet. The fuzzy kitteh balls haven't fully come in yet, although they have formed. They will be getting snipped in February.

So far my puppy knows "time to eat" (races me to his food) ; "do it" (pees like a champ); "go for a walk" (waits at the top of the stairs looking eager); and "go to bed" (walks into his crate, provided he is tired - otherwise moves to elude capture at all cost). Oh and just the other day he initiated the conversation by repeated lifting and dropping his empty aluminum water bowl on the kitchen's tile floor (until I got up and refilled it for him).

Smokey is now 4.5 months old and weighs 23 pounds. From a walk at Fort Funston in San Francisco yesterday:

My boy gets a year with his intact before I have the deed done.
