Got home from Christmas dinner at my cousin's (we did it a day late) about an hour ago. Watched them all get drunk in the wall tent in his backyard, singing karaoke at the top of their lungs - good thing he gets along with his neighbors because they were not singing well, and as I was leaving they were getting louder...

My little bro came in today. We went and ate Tapas in Deland, and my brother and I had a conversation about politics with my parents. Which was awesome for me and my brother, not awesome for his wife, who was squirmy uncomfortable.
My mother is literally the most irrational person, and not able to conduct herself in a debate-type setting, and my father just wants to ameliorate everything. It was, I think, a productive conversation, and my brother and his wife and I debriefed when we took our dogs for a walk when we got home.
My brother and his wife are Christians of the cafeteria type, but in such a way that they "interpret" scripture through the lens of their experiences. My brother has committed his life to community building and teaching underprivileged youth in inner cities. He currently lives in Birmingham, AL, but will teach in DC next year. He and I are socially aligned, but religiously differ, but he is the kind of Christian I wish everybody on the planet is. He's a Christian and a Bernie Sanders guy.
