If you keep one bed, and sleep in it once, then use a compass, you can never get lost.

As for the egg, if you're in creative mode, you can keep producing them thus having an endless supply.

So... if you have one lump of coal... you get an infinite supply?... That's cheating!

Only in creative mode. But it doesn't work for everything. To power beacons, you have to use one of each (either a diamond, gold bar, emerald etc), which means you have to grab from inventory, however many you need.

By the way, it's not cheating if the game is set up that way (creative). You can fly in creative. That's an innate ability. You cannot fly in survival without a potion. What's cheating is switching your game mode back and forth just to get what you need instead of mining or killing mobs. However if you created a customized world, it is impossible to get what you need because of it. A superflat world has zero any things. You have to start in creative because there is literally nothing to mine. There are no biomes either. There's nothing but flat ground.
