What's everyone up to right now?

Well out of curiosity, I wanted to see what would happen if I banged my plastic coffee mug against it. Well it turned the light on. There must be some sort of loose connection somewhere because if I'm correct, headlights normally dim over time. Mine didn't dim. It just went out. So now I'm going to have to see if there is a loose wire around.

^This.

Even though it's encased in plastic, especially in the cold months, the rubber grommets shrink around the connector, which is probably a twist-and-pull. Even if it works now, take the bulb out and clean off the rubber grommet, then reseat the connection with bulb grease. It's a dielectric grease that costs .50c at the auto parts store counter.

On my Audi, when it got cold outside, I had to wiggle the connector some times to get my driver's side headlight to come on. Things were so damn cramped I got my hand stuck 2-3 times trying to do it. After I did the above, never had another issue(with the headlight... Dodgy). Just remember to always do it when the engine is hot and the humidity is low, to keep as much moisture out of your headlight case as possible.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I think I will do this. Even if it's a pain in the ass and according to several videos, I have to pull the bumper away partly to get access to the housing assembly, it will be worth it.

Well... I know what I'm doing this weekend.

And, just like those, when the filament breaks, the light goes out instantly... It also tends to go out when turning it on, due to a current spike that heats it up too much, a bit of the filament turns liquid and stops making a connection.
I've never heard of such lights going dim prior to failure...
But hey...maybe 'murrican cars are different! Tongue

It's a 2010 Chevy Malibu. Even some of the instructional videos I've watched mention the bulbs going dim eventually. They recommend changing these bulbs in pairs. But I think I'm going to try and do what SC suggests.

You know what they say about an ounce of prevention....

I can't sleep either. The sun is too bright.

I know, right?

And it's not like I can be productive. That would make noise, which, in turn would wake up my daughter who needs her sleep for school. She's gotta be up in two hours.

What really annoys me the most about this is the fact that by 8am I will be ready to try and sleep and then end up wasting half the day away because I was up nearly all night.
