Lia's cousins have left. Big ducky dinner whose timing I fucked up and a steamed persimmon pudding Lia made that was out of this world. Heidi Rose cooperated by wearing her reindeer antlers most of the night. More pictures were taken of her than of anyone else.

Now for stockings for my nephew, niece and their parents tomorrow. Lia will whip up a Dutch baby and I'll cook some bacon. Fruit salad is already made. With any luck they'll want to take a walk and help we work off some of this food.

Looks like I'll be going to look at a dog on Saturday. With any luck, I'll bring him home. Here is a video of the dog they're calling spook. (That name I would change.)

Just watching Peter Pan while my sister gets showered and ready. Then we have an hour long walk to visit our Grandad. 2 hours of walking is not my idea of a good day off, but whatever.

Thinking of doing some regular volunteer work again since my schedule is slightly freer next semester.

Does anyone here have experience working in a Christian charity institute? Does it get annoying? Do they try to convert you or do you have to sit still with your mouth shut while they try to convert the disadvantaged? There's one that has the types of volunteer positions I'd like to do but they also run a theology kind of school which makes me go ugh.

I recently told somebody in real life that I'm an atheist. I haven't told anybody outside the internet that about me. It felt amazing. It helped of course that she's sort of an atheist too.

It also helps being up north, where most people will generally not give much of a shit. I tell everyone I'm an atheist when it comes up... even my Christian, clearly paranoid-schizophrenic roommate in the last psych ward I visited. She took it well, actually.

This is the first time it came up for me living up north and I had no problem mentioning I was an atheist. I felt fine. I'm just not comfortable yet with my family and some old friends knowing. I'm hoping that my continued disinterest in going to church and discussing religion with them will gradually give them idea that I'm at least much more "liberal" than I used to be.
