I'm comfortable with both because anything/everything on the mustang is imperial (including the engine rebuild), but things are so much more easier to remember with metric.

There is no reason that 5280 of anything should be 1 of anything.
AFAIC, one of the benefits of buying a Japanese car is that nearly everything is either 10 or 12mm with a 17mm drain plug. I never have to do the 4 msec of math to figure out whether 11/32" is bigger than 3/8" or not.
