What's everyone up to right now?

Killing time waiting to leave for a support group. I've got an hour left before the bus arrives.
Normally I wouldn't go to this group, but I "made a goal" with my nurse to attend this drop-in center at least once this week. So..... ![]()
Just got back from Open House for my oldest kids. Tomorrow night is for my youngest two. And last night was open house for me. At least tomorrow is the last one.
The whole tone of Church teaching in regard to woman is, to the last degree, contemptuous and degrading. - Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Just moved another part of my psyche into the 21st century, late again as usual. Just bought and streamed my first online film (I've used Netflix when staying with someone but it's not the same... this is my first foray into this world alone). I bought Terminator Genisys as my first film from Amazon video and just watched it on my laptop, proving to me that I had enough bandwidth and everything else... and ironically the film has Skynet as being this killer app that everyone's plugged into and that's exactly what I'm experimenting with right now... I'm already plugged in in the sense that I prefer mp3 music and ebooks to their solid counterparts, but I'd never took the leap with video. But now I've seen it in action I'm very impressed with the quality and the experience, especially as I didn't expect my usually shitty internet connection to be up to it.
Now it feels like the whole world's opening up and I'm looking forward to this final paradigm shift in thinking... away from normal, ad-infested TV and collections of DVDs, to streaming and cloud storage. So now the fun starts... choosing which of the different streaming services I'm going to use... Netflix, Amazon Video, NowTV and all the catchup, on demand services from the various channels. After a bit of research today it already looks as if each is pretty distinct. I know Netflix from before, and now I've seen that Amazon's offering is pretty much exactly the same as Kindle, but for video... a very basic selection of free titles plus individual titles you pay full price to 'buy' (or roughly half price to 'rent' for 48 hours). Part of this test, of buying this film, was to see whether you could use Amazon video without being subscribed to their subscription service - through Prime or otherwise - and the answer is clearly yes. So given that their basic selection is, from exploring it, incredibly basic and at first glance sub-par to Netflix by a long shot, I see no reason to subscribe to Prime instant video, and think I should just get individual films as and when from them, and get Netflix for a more on-going selection. The last option is NowTV from Sky, which could also be ideal because we already have Sky so that might not need any extra hardware (the others would need a smart-box of some kind to work on our TVs). So that's the last one to explore, and thankfully they offer no contract services so that should be an easy process, but for another day. Sorry about the long post (and probably pointless from y'all's perspectives ![]() ![]() RE: What's everyone up to right now?

Another benefit of this is that in order for all this to work, soon we'll be upgrading to unlimited internet. My dad holds the purse strings in that regard and is let's say frugal with his spending, so till now we've only had 2gb a month to play with... I could only watch this film now because I did it after midnight when it's unmetered... but now after a lot of nagging and this 'feasibility study' I've been doing of researching all this, it looks like he's willing to upgrade

Planning to sacrifice the intern to the Dark Lord.

Nursing my shoulder. Don't know what the fuck I did to it. Tweaked.
