Curious... Do you guys have to register for every election?
No. But you do make changes to your voter registration card when you move or change party lines. This is done for two reasons -
1. Your party affiliation determines how you vote during the primaries. The primary election is the only time when being a dem or a repub (or something else) determines what candidate you can vote for. I call it a bullshit election because if you are registered as an independent, or anything other than a democrat or republican, you can't vote. The primaries are used to determine, in part, who the DNC and RNC front runners will be in the November election and is typically done in or around April of the same year as the main election. I have seen states hold them as early as Feb, though.
2. Your voter registration card determines, in some states, your polling place (where you actually go to vote). Many other state and local elections take place during the main election so you should know who is running and for what office in your local jurisdictions. This is why it's important to put a change of address in with the voter registration office right away.

Hehee..... we don't do primaries... for the most part.
The parties agree on who they should propose to the elections.
We then vote on those.
And, yes of course, when you move you need to update that info, ok... but I was under the impression that Jorm has been in the same place for a while... that's why I made the assumption that you'd need to register for every election...which I found to be odd.

Disappointed. I came into the office over an hour earlier than necessary just to soak up a colleague's expected post-debate rant, but he is elsewhere boarding a ship.
This guy is priceless. He really, really believes that all of the polls are skewed as part of an anti-Trump media conspiracy and thinks Trump will win in a landslide. He believes that Trump will capture a majority of women's votes, Latino votes, and black votes.
He believes it with every shred of his being -- as well as a host of other nutty conspiracy shit. A real tin foil hat type. His rants are as epic as they are unhinged.
Damn. I could have slept another hour.
