Inspired by the recent influx of young-earth Creationists, I'm researching a particular line of evidence not often discussed here that firmly establishes a minimum age of the earth that refutes YEC claims that the earth is 6000-10000 years old - and does not depend on any method of radiometric dating. I'll intend to post what I find here - with solid references.
Should be good for some yuks.

Back around 10 years ago I was talking to a couple Mormons that had stopped by my house and I was discussing with them how recent genetic studies on Native Americans showed they were all descended from Eastern Asians with no traces of Jewish Ancestry.
It made them rather uncomfortable.
Everything I needed to know about life I learned on Dagobah.

Cleaning, organizing and re-arranging stuff in my apartment. I have a worker coming in 30 minutes, but I wanted to get preliminaries that I could handle done prior to her arrival. Most significant, hooked a tv up to the cable/antenna outlet without the intervening 50' cable, and I'm getting all the expected channels. (Football, yes!) Anyway, gotta replace that long cable with something more reliable (I picked one up last night, but need to compare price.)

Sipping beef broth, listening to Puffy Amiyumi, and working up the resolve to hop in the shower. I'm going to a talk on how to combat health scams later. I'd rather stay home and read for Sunday's book club, but this sounds like some useful info to add to my arsenal, so I'm going.

Watching re-runs on TV. All alone. =(

Similar here, watching the last half of QI on YouTube on my own. I can hear me bed calling me though, so probably won't get to see the end in this sitting.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

The new cable for my tv antenna arrived. I'm getting 40 digital channels and 12 analog prior to pruning the list. Eating kalamata olives and drinking cola. My new book on Buddhism arrived with the cable, but I've got a couple of books to read on free will by Sunday, so it'll have to wait. I don't feel like engaging my brain today, so I'll read those tomorrow, and concentrate on getting my apartment closer to being ready for inspection on Wednesday. (The bedroom is due for a lot of changes, and my worker will only be able to help me for three hours prior to the inspection.)
