Kurrawongs eat baby birds and small birds like finches.
Whenever you see them flying they are often being chased by other, smaller birds because all the birds know what they're up to.
I once saw a kurrawong sitting in the branch of a tree being swarmed by dozens of sparrows.
It had a baby in it's mouth, shook it's head and snapped it's neck.
The sparrows immediately dissipated.
It never occurred to me that a kurrawong would be smart enough to open a cage, get in and get back out.
I would never kill a bird unless I was hungry.
