What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Oh and keep in mind that serotonin affects more than mood. It affects sleep, libido, appetite, etc. So there's likely to be side effects even if it's a supplement.

No, well, not really. I'm prescribed Adderall and it seems that at the end of the day, I feel a little detached, not depressed or anxious, more or less lacking in the amount of effort I'm willing to put in to expressing emotion. I also get a real short fuse. I was on a different forum, and heard that boosting serotonin levels using this HTP-5 was helpful to some people that were feeling the same side effects.

Odd, I get that way from drugs that boost serotonin. Most such responses such as you've heard about rely on naive theories of how serotonergic drugs cause their effects. These theories take a simplistic "makes sense" approach to theorizing how the drugs work which is basically wrong. I don't know what serotonin boosters you're referring to, but playing with your serotonin levels is not a game. Serotonin levels are maintained by a complex system involving both immediate and delayed effects. What you're most likely seeing in these people is some form of placebo effect, as the serotonin system is not one possessed of linear response characteristics, as the naive theories would have you believe. To put it in a nutshell, I advise against self-medicating given the potential side effects.

I know it sounds weird, but I usually drink about 4 glasses of milk a day. If I don't, I feel totally off. Maybe I have a weird deficiency.
Somebody else on that forum said the same thing!

Wow, yeah...I presume that it would probably not be the best idea to go tinkering with the chemical balances in my brain. I'm gonna talk to my doctor about it tomorrow and see if he's got any info for me. Thanks to everyone for all of the advice!

Rather horngry - which is a portmanteau I invented to describe that state of being horny and hungry simultaneously and not sure which to satisfy first.

Also missing Shell. She phones every day for hours, but won't get to see her until next weekend.

Missing Sam even more.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I'm gonna play Super Mario Bros for a while. I've been watching a Cops marathon, and it's got me wanting to distract myself from being reminded of all the crazy idiots with whom I have the distinct pleasure of sharing my citizenship.

Are you using the Adderall for ADD/ADHD, because if so you might want to try other medications. I used to have the same zombie effect from taking my meds, and my psychiatrist at the time told me that sometimes a different brand can make a difference for different people. Unfortunately this was not the case for me. They put me on Concerta, Adderall, and Focalin and they all gave me the same zombie feeling.

I tried concerta first, that stuff was way worse. The adderall XR is not really all that bad, I just feel a disconnect. It's as if I'm all of the sudden overly aware of how much effort is required of me to continue a conversation that somebody else wants to have, and the level of fuck that I normally have to give for such things is being conserved for something better! Lol

Mario Cyrus! LMAO!

Concerta is what they started me on too and I completely agree, it sucks. Whoever made that shit should be shot in the knee caps. Adderall gave me a similar experience too. Obviously you should talk with your doctor and maybe get some advice on other medications. If not though, I've been going without medication for the past 7 years, and it definitely has it's drawbacks but there are small solutions you can use to try and stay focused. I used to keep a notepad and write down things so as to not forget about them when I went of track (I just use a notepad app on my phone now) and I try to schedule myself a little better. Also strangely enough, weed seems to help. Best way I can describe it is that my brain is usually going 10 different ways and weed seems to keep me on a single track.
