True story. A guy was solo for a couple of days when his wife was at a conference. When she got back, she noticed that he hadn't consumed much beer when she was gone, and asked why. He said, "That's my listening juice".

BoT, I'm back on the 'net. We had a new water main line installed yesterday, and the plumbers cut the coaxial cable, thinking it was a sprinkler pipe. It was shielded in some strange looking dark gray plastic tubing, not sprinkler pipe like I've ever seen. The whole block had no phone land line, internet or cable TV for over 24 hours. People were probably lobotomizing themselves with Bic pens in frustration.

No phone land line, internet or cable TV for over 24 hours?? Oh, the humanity!

Watching Bobby Flay make chocolate chip pancakes with daughter Sophie.

Jesus Fucking Christ !!

Having a series of hot flashes.

HOT ones !!

Checked my temp and it's 98.6 (a rarity, I'm usually a tad higher than that or a degree lower) but the surges of heat have been going on for 20 minutes now.

Damn, worst bout of 'em in a long time.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Does Bobby Flay do that to people?

Yeah, I have enough other interests that not having the internet for a day is meaningless, except for presenting my sterling presence here. Rolleyes  The cable guy didn't bury the cable because there is another part of the company that does the installation of the exterior plastic conduit. Gawd help it if a Radio Frequency person had to repair a plastic tube. Huh  A different guy came and filled the hole in, because my wife called about it being a safety hazard. She doesn't understand big companies. If a guy can repair a cable, he's in the RF business and probably claims no expertise (and probably doesn't want to) for repairing the conduit. I do whatever needs to be done around here, within limits. I acknowledge that I can afford to pay the plumbers to dig in that rock-hard dirt to replace the pipe. I have plenty of that kind of activity in my past, and I'm done with wearing my body out any more than I already have. Especially since I have had surgery on both hands in the last 5 months. It's gonna be awhile before I'm back up to snuff.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Did some reading when I got home from work, then played with my bass clarinet for a while.

Symphony night tonight. Mixed program: Dvořák, Strauss, Ravel, and a new trumpet concerto by Canadian composer John Estacio.

And at intermission I scored tickets for something completely different -- John Cleese is coming to town next March. One show had sold out and I was on the waiting list, and discovered that a potential second show had been added.

Definitely a *squee* kind of night.

Going back to when I was a little kid and very interested in numbers and symbols and such, just in their own rite. I''m on the wiki right now for "integral", for instance. Symbols are very pretty.

Watching golf. I don't know why.
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.
