Watching breaking news on my local NBC affiliate. The enduring brush fire situation is now affecting the San Diego area. Some school closures thus far. Haven't heard about casualties here.

Still watching coverage of the Lilac Fire. 2,000 acres. 2 burn injuries. Evacuations ordered. Not sure the situation up in L.A at the moment.

For those living in CA, near the fires, please stay safe. Don't try to be a hero and attempt to save your house or other property. If you are told to leave, please do so. No material possession is worth risking your own life or that of your loved ones.

4100 acres. No containment. Military will join the fight tomorrow (Camp Pendleton Fire Department already activated). City of Oceanside being evacuated (they also have a seperate brush fire. 1 acre only. That kind of thing happens a lot. OFD handling that fire). I'm fine. Air is good down here in the City. I'm 40 mi. from danger.

Where I live, fire burned along one side, jumped the freeway and burned its way back on the other side, in '03. If that happens again (and it well might), I live in approximately the geometric center, and I won't have a burned down house nor have to evacuate. Just can't burn through that many homes with all those unnatural fire breaks called streets. Although it was awfully smoky.

Contemplating three (really two) job offers.

Both good companies. One is about 15 min closer to my house, and it's a consulting firm, which is better for me at this point in my career.

The other is a really awesome firm that does solutions for agronomy vendors/retailers and I really like the people.

The first is $5k less than the second. Panic
