Clarinet lesson after work, and when I got home I resumed painting the wooden dragon that lives in my kitchen. First coat (gesso) is now complete, and I started to apply a coat of metallic teal acrylic on a previously painted section. The gesso took the metallic paint really well, and the section I painted looks great with only one coat so far.
Oh, and I glued another replacement tooth into place, made from white Sculpey (oven-curable modelling clay stuff). I can probably use the Sculpey to make some spectacular new claws, too.

I'll have to look into that Sculpey material. I'm working on some xmas ornaments that I've been carving, and it may work into some smoothing out that the carving tools may not take care of, especially since these ornaments are going to be painted.

Sculpey is generally pretty forgiving stuff. Comes in lots of colours, and any half-decent craft store should have it. It's fairly easy to work with even after it's baked; I've used fine-tooth saws, drills, craft knives and sandpaper on it.
Only caveat is that anything you stick it to has to be able to tolerate 275°F for about 15 minutes. That's for a piece 1/4" thick; not sure how long you would bake a smaller amount, but probably somewhere in the 5-10 minute range.

I'm about to run out.
I just got off the phone with the wife, snowpocalypse. I suggested that we float barges in the basement and stage naval battles like a low rent colloseum. It was only half in jest. I'm so over having a wet basement.

Reading all the news write-ups about the Vikings' victory over the Saints, rewatching the highlights, etc. Also, lazily watching Stallone's Demolition Man on TV. I'm glad I've got cable television, but most of the time it's watching movies that I've already seen. Watched Mulan the other night, which was fun because I hadn't watched it in a long enough time that I'd forgotten the plot. I cried at the end.
Woot! I just noticed. They're replaying the Vikings game tonight on the NFL network. Awesome.

Watched the electricians finish up the installation of the new sub panel, and signed off the work. In a way, I'm glad that we rented the MIL's house instead of selling it. The renters are paying for the repairs by paying rent, since the house is paid off. By the same token, if I had known the state of that electrical, we would never have rented the place before appropriate repairs were made. FFS. Get this. My FIL finally put in central air a few years back. He didn't care if it was hot, he would just walk around in his underwear. The people who installed the AC put in a new service panel. Then they ran insufficient power to the old service, which was split up in maybe not the stupidest configuration I have ever seen, but close. The old panel was getting hot to the touch, it was so overloaded. When the electrician making the inspection and estimate talked about two options, one did not include upgrading that problem. I told him I want that all new. Some of those breakers were 65 years old. The last thing I want is for someone to lose a life over a preventable problem. It's up to code, now.
