Only ended up getting out of work an hour early today, only to have to stay later than normal waiting on parents to pick up their kids.

Yay! I don't have schizophrenia! While he was at it, he also ruled out bipolar disorder. Yay! I'm not bipolar! Also, my neurologist said I do not have any brain damage. Yay again! That's great news. Glad you got a second opinion. (February 4, 2014 at 5:45 pm)futilethewinds Wrote: But now I'm left to wonder... what the hell is wrong with me then? Why am I having concentration and memory problems so severe it crippled my academic performance last semester? Anxiety perhaps? Did your psychiatrist give you any idea what the next steps are? There are a few others I'm sure that also have such symptoms.I've been living with ADHD and major depression all my life, and especially since I've started medication, it hasn't impaired me academically. Another odd thing, I was found to be drastically physically weak (at least as far as grip strength) and to have far below average fine motor skills. Or chemicals! Or maybe both those doctors are wrong... RE: What's everyone up to right now?

Oh, so the academic impairment is new. Well, that's interesting then. I hope they figure out what it is soon, or at least get an idea for treatment. Glad you don't have schizophrenia. Have you discussed your side effects with your doc? Have you guys talked about the options? This week is turning out to be insanely busy for me.... So I'll likely procrastinate and be around here with to contribute some snarky comments.
This schizophrenia talk reminds me of the last time I went to my psychiatrist... aaand he told me I most likely have schizophrenia. Although he cannot be positive unless we were to cut down my anti-psychotic which neither of us want to do. Mental illnesses are such a riot. I definitely wish you luck with yours, futile.

Mental illness is difficult to diagnose, it's always been a problem. But broadly speaking, if whatever is going on doesn't impair your ability to function normally for a predetermined period of time, it wouldn't be considered something that needs treatment, and a lot of people don't want to mess with what isn't broken because getting used to new drugs can be hell. It's really important to find the right doctor and the right therapy for mental illnesses. |
