On my big Income Tax Accounting Project, I'm finally down to Taxable Income: $256,991. I was stuck on a problem with my 4684 where I was given the cost of repairs for a basement flood, while the form demanded a cost basis and Fair Market Value before and after the accident. I finally just straight up asked the teacher what to do and he said it should just be Cost of Repairs-standard $100 deduction-10% of AGI. After that, it was down to $0 thanks to a $156,000 gain on sale of Walgreen's stocks making the AGI too damn high for a casualty deduction. He hasn't gotten back to me about what I should do for the Cost basis and FMVs.

On a more frustrating note, I've been having trouble with my iPad Air 2. A few months ago, I dropped it and cracked the screen a lot. I had it repaired, but the battery has been erratic since then, with occasional incidents of random shutdowns with attendant sudden drops of battery percentage. The last straw happened when I came home from my writers' meeting only to have it at 24%, suddenly shut down, restart at 22%, shut down again after a minute, and then another attempted restart only to find it running on vapours. After this, we called the people who repaired it and they said the battery was probably malfunctioning (I got it on Black Friday 2014; the battery is therefore about 3.5 years old) and when they saw it, they concluded it was pushing against the screen. If it was leaking, this could very well mean a new iPad (given that the price for a new iPad with twice the storage space of mine is a lot cheaper than I had before, not that bad a deal if I can back it up before the transfer). If not, it would just mean a new battery replacement, which is much easier. I hope I get it back soon.

Just got back from spending 5 hours in the ER with my MiL, who fell and busted her head open. Not too bad, Doctor put in just one staple. CAT scan came out clean. She fell a lot less distance than I had originally feared, based on some careful analysis of the room, and the "minimal" damage. A fall is no joke when one is 90 years old. When I heard her hit, I assessed her right away, and thankfully there was no broken hip or anything like that. She fell last night too, so she's going to see her regular MD in the morning. Just sitting here eating some congealed rice before I go to bed. At least my sons put the food away. It was right at dinnertime when this happened, so we didn't get any dinner. I did, however crack open a beer, right before it happened, so I'm sure I had beer on my breath in the ER.   Just what I need is an accusation, but I wasn't drunk by any stretch, from 4 oz of beer. I finished it when I got back, a little while ago. Mmmm, warm beer!   On another note, I've been up since 3:30 this morning because of our aged Maltese. Couple that with building a block wall all day today, it's a wonder I'm not comatose at this point. I think I'm just kind of wound up, is all.

Woke up early myself. We're getting ready to entertain a gazillion people this Sunday and then about 12 to 14 on Monday afternoon/evening. Worked on my to-do list and scheduling. Looking forward to working out at the Y beginning in three hours. Hopefully I'll get a little more sleep.

Driving KG around to physical therapy, the pharmacy, gift wrap place, nail salon, mall to return something, getting a fill in her eyelash extensions, and finally over to where the wedding is being held to drop off all the wedding stuff we have in our possession, so some rehearsal and help with whatever setup we can.

So, yeah, busy day.

Tomorrow will be busier of course.
