What's everyone up to right now?

Day off because of flooding in the area. Wasn't too bad in most places though.

All we're really missing is a day of review.

Right after work I ran a load of scrap lumber over to a recycling depot.  I then went to my Monday evening clarinet lesson.

When I got home (one coffee and a slice of cheesecake later), I thought about doing some more work in the back yard but opted instead to work on some sewing.  Made really good progress, and project can probably be finished next time I sit down to work on it.  (It's a carrying bag for one particularly hard-to-carry musical instrument stand that has pointy attachments sticking out in myriad directions.)

The sewing provoked a bit of nostalgia from when I was active in the martial arts, as the carrying bag is bright yellow with a black stripe running down the center and reminded me of Bruce Lee's track suit in Game of Death.  In the early '80s there was a merchandising plague wherein all the vendors were creating things on that yellow-with-black-stripes theme, such as "Game of Death" nunchakus.  I thought the whole thing was so silly that I actually went to the trouble of knitting someone a "Game of Death" tea cozy.

Fun fact: If you watched those guys going through the motions (while screaming) with their nunchakas, you could time a grab and take the damned things away from them, and crack them on the forehead with them. Fun at a party! Just make sure to wipe your fingerprints off them before the popo shows up.

Always thought they were a silly weapon -- kind of like a hinged short staff that can bounce off things at unpredictable angles and bonk you instead.  At least if you train with a proper staff you can just grab any convenient broom or rake and have at it.
