For as far back as I can remember, my parents and I have gone to see the fireworks, and since my mother died, it's been Dad and I. Usually, it's at a local high school's football field, although in 2003, we ended up going somewhere in Wisconsin. In 2013, we wound up going to some other park. This year, we won't be going to see the fireworks anywhere. Why?
In the past few days, there's been a major heat wave, and weather has been in the nineties for the sixth day in a row. On Monday, a neighbour was out gardening, and she likes to start up conversations, and I found myself trying to translate into Polite Neurotypical Conversation the phrase: "I know you're trying to be neigbourly, but I need to get back inside before I die of heatstroke." I ran out of the car, house key at the ready. If it's been that bad, spending several hours outdoors with no shading is simply out of the question.

I don't know where I could go nearby to see fireworks, so I think I'll just stay home. Would like to see them, but....

I got my grandad's scythe. Cleaning my 400 square meter terrain of those pesky long weeds now its the perfect time to do it. Slashing away.
