Just resurrected a side-by-side fridge that was found dead this morning.

Just had to pull of the back panel and use a hot air embosser to melt the frost off the coils and thermostat. in and out in about 30 minutes. Had I known it was gonna be that easy I'd have called in late to work and done it this morning. Then I would have had a complete save instead of a 90% save.

Picked up a package with a computer part after work, then went home, ate mass quantities of Cheetos, and lay down for a nap.

When I got up again sometime after 8:30 p.m., I cooked some eggs for egg salad and then went down to the basement to work on my bathroom cabinet. Back and sides are now nailed together, and glue is drying. Tomorrow I can start clear-coating it with urethane, and perhaps fit it into place on Sunday.

I then made an egg salad sandwich, mixed up my signature drink (the Tipsy Goddess -- single malt and strong ginger beer) and am currently RTFM and preparing to try out my new computer acquisition, an external SATA hard drive docking station. I'm hoping that the hard drive I rescued from a dead Lacie unit will spin up so I can pull the files off it, and also use the docking station for system backups onto another drive I have.

Edited to add: HDD dock works. Unfortunately the test drive had no interesting files on it, like ancient cat photos or old NaNoWriMo manuscripts, but now I have a backup of my current system on it.

Yet another duty weekend. With two hours of sleep, I am now eleven hours into my work weekend, sitting on a ship in Gulfport, MS while a draft survey is finishing. After this, I haul ass back to New Orleans to board two more vessels in succession. With luck, I might make it home by early evening. Then, of course, comes the usual conversation with my wife, in which I have to explain that, no, I’m not trying to get out of doing something with her. I’m actually fucking tired!

Watching football. Queued up is Frontline's "From Jesus To Christ" documentary, via Youtube. And then later there's another baseball game between the Twins and the Royals.

I don't think I'm gonna get much done today.

I just accomplished something awesome: I finally dealt with three related e-mails that have been sitting in my inbox for a looooong time. It took about two hours of researching and writing and rewriting, but those suckers are gone. Inbox Zero FTW!

And the first coat of urethane is on my bathroom cabinet, too. I think it should get just one more coat, enough to make the wood stain-resistant but still keep that natural pine look.

Will be heading out for Saturday evening coffee at the bookstore in due course.

Up early in the morning for no reason. I was up earlier, thinking I might watch some football, as the NFL channel rebroadcasts a game from prior years between 2 and 5 in the morning. Things looked inviting, as they were scheduled to rebroadcast the Falcons / Eagles divisional game. But the schedule was wrong, and they actually were playing the lame Titans / Patriots game from last year. So I tried to go back to sleep, without much success. And now I'm up again and probably wouldn't sleep if I went back to bed anyway. But I probably will as there's not much to do in the morning anyhow. So it's up, down, up, down, wash rinse repeat.
