Browsing my library. Thinking about doing some reading about Taoism. Found a title I want to read, and there's an eVersion, so I go for that. Much clicking and installing later, I have two new eReaders installed, in addition to the two I already had installed, and I can now read my book. Because it's copy protected, I have to use Adobe's Digital Reader, which I'm already inclined not to like, as it seems somewhat rudimentary. In addition, my borrowing term is limited to 3 weeks, whereas in general, if no one is waiting on something I'm reading, I can renew it for a total of 9 weeks reading time. (I'm not much of a reader, so that helps.) I suppose I'll be able to check it out again immediately after the return period ends, but it's still a pain. I guess I'll have to use Evernote if I want to make notes on my reading.

Meh. Evernote free version is lacking a lot of things the paid version has, but they want $42 per year on sale for that. What other note taking software for windows do people use or recommend?

Decided to investigate TiddliWiki and MS OneNote. I had a bunch of notes in an obscure note taking tool at one time. I wonder if I can find the file or if I blew it away when I reformatted my old computer?

Hrm. Not sure TiddliWiki works on Android, or perhaps it only works from a browser on Android. So much to do.

I love the silly things we Limeys argue about with Yanks... today it's arguing over cookies and biscuits, yesterday it's arguing over the price of Tea in Boston... Good Times Big Grin

I'll get my coat.

I wonder how much shit the people who dumped the tea in the harbor would get in this day and age, what with all the environmental protection laws? Maybe some fish in the immediate area died from a caffeine overdose? Tongue
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Or maybe they're still just swimming around there waiting for more Wink

Software be dumb. I'm typing a French phrase in OneNote and I decide to check the spelling. So I hit lookup, and it gives me the option to translate from English into French. Wut?

Trying to make a difficult decision; a friend of mine invited me to go on a gay pride march tomorrow. I've never been on one before and if he'd asked fifteen or twenty years ago maybe I would have been more confident and keen, because I was more vocal and activist back then. But now I'm not... now I'm more reserved and less forward about it. Now I think I would be very self-conscious... so it wouldn't be so much about pride as a mental endurance test and trying to resist the urge to fight with any people jeering Wink I've looked at footage of one on YouTube and it looks both scary and liberating... and I guess a lot based on attitude; some extroverts waving banners, blowing whistles, and chanting, some people not going that far but just having a nice walk as if it was any other walk, and then maybe shy people like me. But ideally I'd like to be like the second type if I go... to just think of it as any other day with nothing to be self-conscious about, but that would part of the mental challenge of the event. So really not sure if I want to go to this... part of me would savour the new experience, the mental exercise and whatever I learned from it, but part of me is very self-conscious.

Frustrated. Looking at various translations of the Tao Te Ching. Occasionally, a sample of the text is offered. Unfortunately, said sample is confined to the preface, making checking the translation impossible.
