RE: What's everyone up to right now?

Have been back from a visit with a podiatrist for about an hour, referred to said specialist for foot pain. Got there, got a consult, X-rays, and then nothing. I waited for an hour and a half (not really, I was knocking on their door before that long a time), only to find out that they go home at 5 PM. The X-rays had been delivered before that, but they didn't call me back in to see the doc. The helper saw me sitting there, but didn't say anything about when they closed, or that the doctor was gone. I'm a big boy; I can take being told that there is no more service tonight, and that I will have to come back later. There will be a complaint lodged. I'm an easygoing guy, until I'm intentionally treated badly. I don't have to cuss or threaten physical violence to make my point, either.
On a better note, I went to the gun range today, and I'm shooting really close to Distinguished Expert- 190+ out of 200 points, which means 2 targets with 5 bullseyes each (two shots per bullseye), and no less than 19 out of 20 on average. DE is 192 for my gun and position. I'm going to have to go to some ammunition other that a 500 cartridge box of loosely packed rounds. I had lots of problems with the rounds chambering. Once the slug is crooked in the casing, that shot is going to be a flyer-it's only going to be an 8, which ain't good enough, unless there is only one.
And the pisser- I was having trouble with my eyes, and as the session progressed, my nose started getting runny. I have a freaking COLD.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

First rehearsal of the regular-season band tonight. We started out at warp factor 5 because we have our first concert of the season in a month and a half.
An epic thunderstorm ensued about halfway through rehearsal, and we got out a few minutes early to give us extra time to make it safely home. Fortunately the rain had eased up a little bit, and I wasn't totally soaked by the time I ran to my car. As soon as I got home I made mass quantities of comfort food -- Fried perogies with sour cream, a hot rum and cognac toddy, and a small bowl of granola for dessert. Driving crosstown in a thunderstorm is a lot like work.

Yup. I did National Novel Writing Month from 2005 to 2011 and won (i.e. wrote 50,000+ words in 30 days) in six of those seven years. (In 2011 I only got to 5000 by mid-November and dropped out. Just don't have sufficient spare time anymore.) What this means is that I have first drafts of six novels. There's a murder mystery, a high school reunion tale, and the rest can be classified as urban fantasy/humour.
Currently I'm working through the 2006 book, which is a paean to SF/F fandom gone terribly wrong. Somewhere in all the epic silliness, I think one of the dragons must have stolen a bulldozer and demolished the fourth wall altogether.

Wow, awesome. I always start novels, but usually never finish them. I've written three full novels, two of which still need to be personally edited.

Up earlier than usual this morning. I got up between 4:00 and 4:30. I try to go back to bed in those cases, but I got up and started browsing the forum and yakking my ass off, so here I am still awake. I might as well stay up now as there's little point in trying to go back to bed.

Up at 4:15. Ugh. Going to therapy, dropping the dog off at daycare (for socialization), and going to work.
Tomorrow we're heading up to a rustic cabin we rented.

Waiting for the caffeine to kick in before I tackle the honey do list.
Replacing the deck carpeting will be the biggest pain.

Ah, yes, the honey do list. If you ever need proof of the concept of eternity you’ll find it there.
