RE: What's everyone up to right now?

(This post was last modified: September 11, 2018 at 6:55 pm by Rev. Rye.)
I got two things done in the past half hour or so:
1) The black leather belt I've been using to keep my pants up for nigh on a decade has started to tear, so Dad bought me a replacement. It's not real leather and not terribly flexible, and it's wider than I'm used to (at least one of my pairs of shorts gives me great difficulty in getting the belt through the loop) but it'll do. Unfortunately, it turns out that the belt's tightest setting is too small on some pants, the one I'm wearing right now. So, we managed to punch some holes in the belt (two additional holes, now it fits perfectly.)
2) Dad finally got the 9 volt batteries necessary to power my Cinders Overdrive and Skysurfer Reverb pedals so I could finally test them with the stereo amp I'll be putting into the box. The ground loop hum is actually louder now, but it still worked. The big surprise is that the Cinders overdrive needs a higher drive setting here than on my Vox amp. This may be the excuse I need to buy a power supply for my pedals so batteries are less of an issue, and there's a Guitar Center right by where my therapist lives and works.

Ima buy some T-Bones to grill for dinner tomorrow. I eat red meat maybe twice a month, like a good little boy. If it's going to be red meat, it ain't gonna be ground round. I'll pick up some big ol' Idaho bakers to go with it, and of course, broccoli. That dinner will require me to buy a bottle of Arrogant Bastard ale, to go with it. Yummay!

Yeah, deal with it you lucky non-high-cholesterol beast. I'm trying to live longer, so I can be a pain in the neck for all and sundry.

Transcribed some more of my old novels. I'm now down to just one stack of paper about 3½" high, and at least a third of the longest story has been redone. (For the sake of sanity and continuity I sorted it into three documents: Main story, story-within-a-story, and outtakes.)
Also set up a couple of mouse traps, as my daughter has apprised me of an uninvited house guest. Kitchen is in lockdown mode, with mouse-friendly noms being moved to sealed glass containers or into the fridge. Little squeaky bugger already took out my bag of ground flaxseed. %&@!!

Listening to a cricket outside only putting in a half assed effort to chirp.

It is done.
"Every luxury has a deep price. Every indulgence, a cosmic cost. Each fiber of pleasure you experience causes equivalent pain somewhere else. This is the first law of emodynamics [sic]. Joy can be neither created nor destroyed. The balance of happiness is constant.
Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.
Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.
Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.
Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

Dreading work, but looking forward to half the day off as I have to leave early to pick up my kiddo.
