What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
I've finally received the Fender Tru-Shell 551 and Clayton Black Horn Jazz picks in the mail. I think I finally have some new favourite picks.

Watching the Yankees / Red Sox game. I've got some reading to get done this weekend, so my attention may end up being split. I was going to make chili tonight, but I'm thinking I might put that off until tomorrow. I stuffed myself on celery and ranch dip earlier, so I'm not as hungry as I otherwise might be.

I just finished tallying yesterday's load of deposit containers from the local Transfer Station. I made $30.75 for Saturday and Wednesday. Now I'm going to relax and browse the forums for a couple of hours.

Brewing a second pot of coffee. Decaf. A brand I bought off Amazon because of the reviews of its coffee. Community Coffee. From what I read, there's little consistency in decaf coffees, so I'm hoping I got a good one. I've got some reading to do in Peter Singer's Ethics in the Real World: 82 Brief Essays on Things That Matter for my philosophy group next week. I'm not all that thrilled about the selection of book, but I never am. I wish they'd select something from the greater body of recognized philosophical works, but I suppose focusing on contemporary authors keeps everybody interested. Anyway, I'm putting that off until later. Time to check what the Post and the Times and such have delivered to my inbox.

Dang. I missed an interesting two final innings last night. In my own defense, I was sleepy.

Two updo's in less than two hours. I've impressed myself. And hurt my back in the process.

Wondering why it's so damn hard to be happy for longer than, say, five minutes. Like why isn't happiness less elusive? Why is it that every freaking time it feels like there's something to look forward to, there suddenly isn't? I just found out that someone I barely knew committed suicide a few hours ago, and now I can't stop thinking about what it is that finally leads to a person concluding that finding that elusive happiness isn't worth it.

If we were consistently satisfied with things, we wouldn't be as successful as a species as we are. That's the answer in a nutshell. It's nature's way of getting us to keep trying.
