Well, more than one thing...

I never saw/knew of my sister getting bullied at school, but I did once see a man put her in a headlock when I was around 20 (and she 22) and I went completely apeshit, saw flaming red, and cracked the guy in the jaw. That is one of only two times I have been violent as an adult, the other being the result of my girlfriend being assaulted by a man. I've been assaulted plenty of times by males over this or that, but I just block what I can and keep them at arm's length until I can talk them into stopping, mostly. NOTHING ON THIS EARTH makes me flare up like seeing a woman I love being bullied by a male. For this reason I understand and empathise with your son's reaction (in my mind, the start of the conclusive troubles) on the bus that day.

Smart people invariably get bullied at school too. When I was at school there was even a word for us - "keen" - the more A's you got, the "keener" you were, and the more you got bullied. I myself was bullied out of secondary school, shortly after changing schools due to our parent's divorce. Changing schools is generally a very bad move, which is not common knowledge, because kids have no understanding of the extant social orders in their new homes and can make grievous mistakes. Because I was put back a year  (despite being in top sets in my old school) so I could start my GCSE's again as the regional syllabus was different and I missed a lot of school because of the breakup, I was indeed extremely "keen" at my new school. They turned on me like a pack of wolves, and my mother and stepfather withdrew me.

There are a lot of teachers in our family too. Children can be so cruel....but most grow up, fortunately. I reckon y'all will do a fine job.

In other news, my new teapot which I was scheduled to pick up at Walmart tomorrow has been delayed until next Tuesday, so I'll have to make a special trip for it. Drag.

Spent the past hour tracking down the user manual for my garage door remote so that I can change the batteries.  The little blighter is running out of juice, such that the transmitter only works when I'm inside the garage.  

Now I need a coffee.

And batteries.
