Just met with the real estate agent that's going to be listing my house in early spring, lurd willing and the creek don't rise.

I do have to put some money into it, but the agent told me she's going to list it at 13-18K above the top of what I expected to get and another 10 more than I'd happily takr, so I'm pretty thrilled and totally willing to put the money into it as long as it't not much more than 8K or so.

The market is softening here somewhat so we want to get it on the market by St. Patty's. We have a lot to do, not to mention we'd like to be out of the house while it's on the market, and while the contractors are in house so we gotta start packing up whatever isn't staying until it's sold.

Funny! I'm working on making a new carving tool chest, and am agonizing over spending $30 on some plywood for it. I could just go get it, but I'm a cheap SOB. We just spent $3k US on a nice new cabinet set for the wife's sewing machine. Guess I ought to lighten up on the concerns about spending for what I want.

You know Fireball. Sometimes it's cheaper to not spend that king of money and just buy the damn clothes with your spare $3k!
But we all do it ... I think I've spent more on tools for the Mustang than what it would have cost to get it done rather than doing it yourself!
But it's a boy's thing I s'pose. We love breaking walnuts with sledgehammers ...because you just never know!

The neighbors house went in 4 days, for about 30K over the tax assessment. I know we're in wildly different markets, but still, good luck with the sale.
