Looks like Dad and I will be going up to Wisconsin to see his family, and, unlike the last two years, it looks like Dad's going to be good to make the trip and will likely not be in too much pain to drive. So, I decided to go to the library to get some DVDs for this week, since I usually go to the library on Saturday, and I'll be in another state all day this coming Saturday.

This Next week in the Deep Hurting Project.
Whereas:
[*] Die Hard is officially a Christmas movie
[*] I cannot actually get a copy of Die Hard from my local library in time
[*] I've managed to watch all of the Christmas movies known to be in the Deep Hurting Project already
[*] I have been checking for one of the two Action/Adventure films remaining in the Project to be available when I come in for the past 2 1/2 weeks and only today have I actually got it
[*] The one Action/Adventure movie of the two remaining that's actually available coincidentally has Bruce Willis "star", just like Die Hard,

Next week, I will suffer through Reprisal.

Of course Die Hard is a christmas movie. We just watched it while getting wasted on egg nogg.
Incidentally, it's twice as funny if you're German. Schieß dem Fenster!!! I'm kinda partial to the radical West German Volksfrei movement myself 🤣

Nr. 3 is greatness the way it is, but imagine how epic it would have been if they'd returned to the christmas theme for #4. Family McClane attempts a Christmas family reunion which is already problematic, but goes south horribly as bad guy tries to crash the system in midst of the Christmas holidays. Traffic chaos in the snow, that power plant going up in flanes like christmas lights

In addition to being a cracking good film of its kind, we should all be grateful to 'Die Hard' for getting Alan Rickman onto the world stage (he very nearly turned down the part).

And people who don't agree that it's a Christmas movie don't understand Christmas.  Or movies.

I actually made it to Wisconsin for the week before Christmas with my Dad's side of the family. We've had some bad luck the last couple times we tried, but this time Dad's well enough to do the drive up to Kaukauna.

Wondering if the fog will ever lift after the medication I took last night...good grief - I could probably make a fortune selling this on the black market if I only had a larger supply.

Some context-the weekend before Thanksgiving I broke a couple of ribs that went un/misdiagnosed for two weeks. Then this week I developed un upper respiratory infection. Deep wracking coughing fits really, really suck when you have broken ribs. Doctor gave me something to help with the cough and the pain. I was asleep before my head hit the pillow. Woke up seven hours later needing to use the bathroom but not sure if the trip would be worth it. Back to sleep for about five more hours...well 'sleep' doesn't really describe my state of being. Now, 18 hours after taking one dose and I am still loopy.

Good damn thing I didn't need to go anywhere today.

Went to a Christmas family reunion today (the whole reason I'm in Wisconsin in the first place.) It was nice, and Grandma decided to get everyone a simple gift, specifically gloves. Well, I will say this about the gloves: if I ever get involved in a murder trial, they'll certainly be a godsend.
