My avatar is not Brian Boru. It is Lugh Lamfada (‘Lugh of the long arm’), Irish solar deity, grandson of Balor of the Formor, foster son of Mannanan Mac Lir, and father of Cuchulain. 

He was striding through Irish mythology when the first Viking was just a glint in the milkman’s eye.

You know what sucks? I spent about three years on this forum without an avatar. People were concerned enough to say things like, ‘You don’t have an avatar’, ‘Where’s your avatar?’ and ‘Would you like some help in posting an avatar?

So, about a week ago, I added an avatar. The silence has been deafening.

I has fame, as it was yours truly, I do believe, who finally tipped you over the edge and into the realm of avatar participation! I didn't want to make a big song and dance about it, as that would seem to be me singing my own praises in a way, but as you seem to want a ballad and jig of moderate degree, havatcha! Also, I think your avatar is quite stylish and possessing of idiosyncratic clout. Which is nice.

The poster (whose name didn't stay with me and I don't really care) said that nothing I said could be taken seriously because my avatar was of an actor playing a comic book character...oh, and I was too old to have that particular avatar...maybe it was LAWZ who thinks insults about my age are wounding me in some way.
