Bad news, it's taken a shitton of time to bake (2:30), and it's still got a non-negligible amount of liquid bits. Maybe it's the oil.
Tried the other recipe without the oil. Result: eruption. And given that the second attempt basically resulted in an over-sweetened sugar cookie With a texture just on the border between cake and pudding.
Also, is it strange that chocolate chip cookies seem to be less sweet than sugar cookies, even before you’ve taken a bite out of the parts with the chips? Honestly, that’s what I was expecting to make.
Do you own an oven? I've found that brownies baked in an oven turn out exceptionally well.

Boru Yes I do. And I was specifically looking for a microwaveable recipe because I like the ease of preparation.

'Ease' of cleaning up the microwave, you mean?

He and I are going to have to discuss a medication that I think has been causing a lot of my health issues...and I am not so sure it's going to be easy to plead my case though I stopped the med about three weeks ago and have seen significant improvement as far as relief of certain symptoms.
And I have to have a cardiac ultrasound done by one of the grumpiest people I have ever met...oh joy.
Going to reply to myself...am now officially off the medication that was causing issues. YAY!
Ultrasound tech was someone new and more pleasant. YAY!
Cardiac ultrasound, carotid ultrasounds, EKG, and BP all good. YAY!
The only thing that gets me is that he did argue on the medication a little saying thousands of people take it without any issues...yeah, well maybe, just maybe, I am one of the people who does have issues with it.
Overall, 4.5 out of 5 stars for the visit.

Duncan Hines and Betty Crocker have a shitton of mixes that I've used without incident for a few years. I just feel like trying something else.

Happy to read the good news.
I once had a new doc try to talk me into an alternate BP med. When I told him I was severely allergic to the alternate he suggested, he said he'd never heard of that before, the clear implication that I didn't know what I was talking about. It was several years ago, but I think I said something like, 'Ok, I'll take it in front of you. Do you have a crash cart and epinephrine standing by?'

Yeah, no worries. On re-reading I came off kind of snotty (wasn't my intention). I've known people who managed with just a hot plate and an electric skillet, so I thought maybe you were doing MW brownies because you had to, not because you wanted to.

Boru Rest assured that the only reason I'd have to is perhaps time constraints, but even that's not much of an issue now, since I still have yet to return to work because I'm still dealing with a chronic cough (non-COVID, tested twice, both negative) that's been the bane of my existence since June.

I get the oddest looks when I inform a new medical person in my life that I am allergic to the Typhoid immunization. The chances of them wanting to give me one is pretty slim but it still raises eyebrows.
