What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
So, here's what happened today: For the first time in several days, I didn't have to remove any gunk to get my left eye to open. We went to see Dr. Tojo to get my nasal splints removed. It was about as uncomfortable as I expected, maybe a bit less so. I didn't get to see them, though, and Dad's description was not helpful. Since it was the first time I had been out since the surgery, it was also the first time I had gone out worn a mask in about a week. It was uncomfortable, although at first, I put it down to the nasal splints. After they were removed, it was still uncomfortable to wear, because the nose is still tender. On the bright side, he says the recovery seems to be going along perfectly. He suggested I start doing the sinus cleanse thing we bought after the surgery, and it's basically a slightly more ergonomically-shaped neti pot. It feels like I'm getting sodomised in the nose every time I try it, but, apart from there being a general feeling like... you remember going to a beach or pool and ending up under the water and accidentally breathed up some water? That afterfeeling is the default for me now. But at least I'm still breathing through my nose.

I must have missed the post. What happened to your nose?

Okay, in all seriousness, I've had a deviated septum for what I think is most of my life, and I had a Septoplasty and Turbinectomy on Friday. I've been talking about it (and my worries with the surgery) since about this post here.

Ah, I happened to find posts where you mentioned the term septotomy, but I never found where you mentioned why you needed the surgery.

Oh, the motorcycle comment was a joke. xD

Well, I'm glad you got the issue taken care of.

It was actually a quote from The Darjeeling Limited.

Lost my glasses last night in a drunken stupor, and I couldn't find them again this morning - so I'm just about to head out and visit an optician shop to get new glasses. I miss those glasses, as I've had those glasses for some 19 years, that I bought in Goa, India when I was on a gymnasium trip there with my class. I lost another glasses while there and bought some new ones while there in Goa. Oh well, shit happens - and even more shit happens the more drunk you get.

If you drink straight from the bottle, you don't have to worry about glasses.

I broke a pair last month. I called America's Best - where I got the broken pair and asked if my prescription was still good. It turned out I had a month left on the RX.

I went in and ordered 2 new pair. $112 - shipped directly to my house for both pair.

How the actual fuck can you make prescription eyeglasses and ship them for $56 a pair?

That is a model of mass production efficiency..

I have now been to an optician shop and got my eyes checked since it was some 5 years or so since I last replaced the lenses. I'm even less nearsighted now, at around -1.5 for left and -1.25 for right (former time I got my eyes checked it was -3 for left and -2.75 for right). Luckily they had some lenses in storage, approximately close to my optical correction needed, but I will have to go with these lenses for some 2 weeks before they get new lenses that are configured to my eyesight. Still, I see much clearer now, even with these intermediary lenses. A happy accident that cost me more than 5,000 DKK.
