What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Liking the fact that I planned my workweek out to where my weekend starts....now!

I have now given up working for a living Smile
I used to enjoy my job, driving all over the country (about 5000 miles per month on average) every day a different place and a different customer, maybe a small 2 man firm with just a couple of laptops, or could be a big multi national company with hundreds of networked printer/scanners, clever access/print management software, lots of variety. I was on furlough from the end of March (great... getting paid to sit at home and do nothing!) but partly to do with cost saving and partly related to covid, I would be returning to almost 100% remote support, something that drives me crazy! On site I can see and fix any problems, but over the phone you can't do that (did you know that a usb printer plug will fit into an ethernet socket? one of my customers fount that it would... a pain to fix if you can't see it!)
I was offered voluntary redundancy and grabbed a nice cash sum and can now sit back and relax.
I didn't feel too stressed about going back to work, but it must have been building up inside, the day I signed the paperwork to leave, my blood pressure dropped from around 160/95 to 125/75!
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

Kinda nice isn't it!

After stressing with commutes, nutty bosses, and pain-in-the-ass coworkers I am enjoying my semi-retirement.  I work from home somewhere between 15-18 hours a week.  Once a week I drive to the office and pick up paperwork and checks and the next day go to the bank.  Were it not for that I might never dress in real clothes and put shoes on to leave the house.   Hehe

If things get stressy...I can get up and walk away, play with the dogs, make something to eat, do small chores around the house and then come back to my desk and work it out.

Enjoy your new stress free life and lower BP!

Attaboy! I’m less than two years from retirement myself and looking forward to it. My wife and I both agree that running our respective businesses would be a lot less stressful without all those goddam customers.

Nice.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Next time have your caffeine first.  Big Grin  Unless you do like I did and use the decaf. My wife and her mother would have that, and I'd have some. Faceplant. Thankfully, the decaf is all gone.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
