So, with regular doctors failing to help with The Cough That Won't Fucking Die, Dad enlisted the help of one of his more "integrative" doctors. Her suggestions: a cocktail of ass-tasting herbs called Bi Yan and giving up on dairy to see if that helps. For what it's worth, Dad went to Whole Foods to pick up some fake cheeses and fake Ben and Jerry's ice creams that can help with the latter. I haven't tried the Ben and Jerry fake ice cream, but I have tried the fake cheeses, and I suppose they're slightly more nourishing than a crayon of the equivalent colour and they do make some lip service to actually trying to taste like cheese, and, of course, once it goes down the gullet, the gestures towards a proper cheese taste has completely gone and I have this taste of banana and some other vegetable I don't recognise. On a scale of Pissing Down Rye's Neck and Telling Him It's Raining to 5, I'd give the fake cheeses a 2. Maybe a 2 1/4. At least it's not the fake milk I tried years ago that tasted like lawn clippings and vanilla extract.
