I'm trying to arrange for the work that would be needed to give this property to my inlaws - at a price I can stomach.
That way the love of my life spends less time worrying about her (already lost - to me..anyway....) mother and father...freeing her up to get back to worrying about how she and I are going to build a multi generational home that can hold us, our children, and our children's children. Something that our current property just couldn't do, even though it's perfectly well suited to two geriatric seditionists with a few years to live between them.
She hates it every time I say that.
Bad news last week - there's literally no way to build a traditional septic that supports six assholes, let alone twenty two, on this land. We might be able to manage two. We'll be able to get the dead vegetation out (that's this weekend) for cheap, otoh, so it's give and take. I think we've already hit the limit of productivity. Can't replace either of our incomes with the land - but we can sure as shit replace a social security check-as-only-income. Still waiting to hear on whether or not the bulging basement wall is a real issue or just cosmetic. I expect it to be cosmetic and expensive. I undercut and dug jacked pillars in when we bought it.
