Haven't really been following the Oscars. Even in the best of times, it's pretty hit and miss. Since I was born, I think only three Best Picture Winners actually were the best picture of the year: Unforgiven, Birdman, and Parasite. And, for reasons we should all know, 2020 has been an abortion year for cinema. I can count the nominated movies I've seen so far on one hand. But one interesting thing I just found out: my lad Daniel Kahluuya has just won an Oscar. Part of me is baffled that he was tapped for Best Supporting Actor even though he was the protagonist of Judas and the Black Messiah (and even more baffled by the note that Lakeith Stansfield, the only other actor to potentially count as a protagonist, is also in that category), but part of me is also proud that this actor who I've followed since he was on Psychoville has finally won an Oscar. Hell, I can even remember writing an article about Series 1 of Black Mirror and complaining that he was given bugger-all to do in his most recent film. Of course, that was pre-Get Out.

In which state do you live? My guess, as a former Mormon, you never fled far from Utah?

Pennsylvania. Utah is where they settled. Mormonism originated in New York and PA where Joseph Smith first started spinning tales. I live in Priesthood Restoration country in Susquehanna.

PA, I visited there once when I was on Thanksgiving vacation from college in D.C. The homemade meal I had at an Amish restaurant open to the public was delicious. I'm not sure where we were, because I wasn't paying attention.

Finished my alcohol purchases for May. I went a wee bit over budget. About ten days back I purchased a bottle of Johnnie Walker green and a Glenmorangie sampler pack. And then I blew my budget all to shit today with a bottle of Ardbeg Uigeadail, a bottle of Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10, and a bottle of Wild Turkey Rare Breed bourbon (it was on sale). And I've yet to fully explore the Lagavulin 16. If I don't slow down, my apartment is going to be nothing but wall-to-wall bottles of whiskey.
