Rose veal if William Seabrook's description is any indication:

It was like good, fully developed veal, not young, but not yet beef. It was very definitely like that, and it was not like any other meat I had ever tasted. It was so nearly like good, fully developed veal that I think no person with a palate of ordinary, normal sensitiveness could distinguish it from veal. It was mild, good meat with no other sharply defined or highly characteristic taste such as for instance, goat, high game, and pork have. The steak was slightly tougher than prime veal, a little stringy, but not too tough or stringy to be agreeably edible. The roast, from which I cut and ate a central slice, was tender, and in color, texture, smell as well as taste, strengthened my certainty that of all the meats we habitually know, veal is the one meat to which this meat is accurately comparable.

Watching It’s A Wonderful Life with my Dad. And the funny thing: since we got the LG TV for the living room (the same one I’m watching it on) a while back, there was a strange problem that I could t put my finger on. The way everyone moved was somehow too smooth. You know how there were six episodes of The Twilight Zone where the motion looked really off (and not in a good way) because they shot on video and not film? Now imagine that everything that can be seen on a TV looks like that. That’s what it looked like watching anything on that TV.

And I finally found a name for it: motion smoothing, and it turns out it’s something so shit that even Tom Cruise started to talk sense:




And I finally figured out how to fix it, and a good part of it involved finding out that LG calls it TruMotion, and most other manufacturers use a different term, because when a new innovation comes around making everything look like an eyesore, of course you want to create your own name for it so you can take credit for it, and of course, you need to bury the option to turn it off really fucking deep in the picture settings menu (customize, incidentally). At least it looks a Hell of a lot more natural once we turned it off.

Just back from Christmas lunch. It's after 10 pm.

Turkey, pork, ham for lunch and turkey, pork, ham for dinner. (and they gave us more turkey, pork, ham to take with us)

I know Jesus dies for us and I think I'm about to return the favor!

I've been making due with all the sewing projects over the last two years with what I have available...not the greatest setup as it includes my desk, a couple TV trays, an ironing board, and the floor of an unused room. I took the gift cards I received and ordered a craft table that should make things much easier. When not sewing it collapses to a size that won't take up much room.

I once tried making a recipe that was just ginger, water, and bread crumbs. Supposedly, it was what the Stuarts called gingerbread. I had severe heartburn for a couple days. To be fair, I might have overdone the ginger, which made it worse.
