What's everyone up to right now?

She has an infection that the doctor thinks her body is too weak to fight off. But she's been getting stronger (incrementally) day-by-by as she's been in the hospital. This was all sprung on us yesterday that amputation was being considered. She's been in the hospital since Monday. Part of me thinks somebody dropped the ball. But IDK.

I'm so sorry - it's a tough position to be in to have to make decisions like that.  How are her mental faculties?  What's her input on this?

I am biased due to things I have gone through but am a real advocate for patients who can to make their own decisions.

The infection has hampered her mental faculties. But she's with it enough that, it's still her call. 

Nobody is pressuring her one way or another or anything. But we've all united under the banner of saving her leg if we can. Ultimately, I would rather have the amputation done than lose my mom. But I want to try as hard as I can to save her leg. At least for a few days.

It's not like doctors push really hard to have a leg amputated when the risk isn't serious. Now I'm worried to death that we made the wrong decision.

Very sorry to hear that. Hope she responds to medical treatment and it can be saved, but it's better to have a mom with one leg than no mom. Best wishes.

Watching Face The Nation. Christmas is up in the air as my sister decided against celebrating yesterday what with her being sick, but I don't know all the details. Supposedly we'll celebrate today.
