I got all the gift receipts sorted and the packages loaded and ready to go. All that's left is to shower and eat. And I'm done an hour early. Yay!

I once tried making a recipe that was just ginger, water, and bread crumbs. Supposedly, it was what the Stuarts called gingerbread. I had severe heartburn for a couple days. To be fair, I might have overdone the ginger, which made it worse.

First holiday season abroad, away from family. Gonna have to talk stepson #2 through getting the house back in WA state prepped for an unusually cold snap that's rolling in.

In retrospect, I'm not sure which was a bigger red flag:
1) The fact that it was in a Horrible Histories book
2) That it was a recipe for a baked good that somehow didn't need to involve baking
3) That the recipe called for bread crumbs instead of flour.

My sister is sick. She's going to try to get a rapid covid test. I advised skipping getting together today, but she made a lot of food and doesn't want to do it another day. So, I'm waiting for more info.

Been at the hospital with my mom all day. The doctor wanted to amputate her leg. My sister and I (and my mom) were trying to explore different options. So he's going to try to save the leg, but he warns that we are endangering her life by doing so. I have no idea what the right call is here. It's not like doctors push really hard to have a leg amputated when the risk isn't serious. Now I'm worried to death that we made the wrong decision.

Is she diabetic? Or is there another reason amputation is an option?

She has an infection that the doctor thinks her body is too weak to fight off. But she's been getting stronger (incrementally) day-by-by as she's been in the hospital. This was all sprung on us yesterday that amputation was being considered. She's been in the hospital since Monday. Part of me thinks somebody dropped the ball. But IDK.

I'm so sorry - it's a tough position to be in to have to make decisions like that. How are her mental faculties? What's her input on this?

I am biased due to things I have gone through but am a real advocate for patients who can to make their own decisions.

Just scheduled a COVID test for Monday to see if I have picked up the COVID cooties from himself.
