Poor you. Periods really do suck. Mine last weeks at a time with less than a week inbetween, but thankfully I rarely cramp anymore. Maybe you should speak to your doctor about changing the pill you're on to see if that would help? I think the implant is good for stopping or reducing periods for many people.
My wife is pretty lucky on that account.
Her periods mostly consist of blood, no pain or cramp or anything else... life goes on normally with that bloody inconvenience.
Lasts a few days, almost a week and are fairly periodic, as the name implies. Smile

What do you think happened to change that?

A rare bleeding disorder, and I suspect something else, but my Doctor doesn't seem concerned enough to refer me.

Rare bleeding disorder?... that sounds serious enough to get it properly checked out.
Can't you bypass that doctor, somehow?

Listening to NPR, which was just covering this Ukraine thing.

Ever since I got my IUD I've been experiencing some serious cramps. One time I thought the IUD punctured my uterus... it was just cramps.

I still love this thing though.

Well, she was the 3rd Doctor I'd seen about my period issues. The first sent me for a blood test and said there was nothing wrong with me. The second sent me for a dildocam appointment and then said there was nothing wrong with me, then the third listened to my symptoms and said I have a bleeding disorder and prescribed me tranexamic acid to slow down the bleeding enough to avoid the massive clots I was passing every 30-45 mins at that time. I'm nearly out of the tablets now, so I'm going to ask for more tests to find out exactly what's wrong. At least which of the several bleeding disorders I have, and why I was fine till I was 24.

I like to pretend that hoo hoos don't bleed.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
