What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Just finished the newest chapter of Joe vs. Elan School. Somehow, watching Joe escape death twice in a row (even if the second is very Donnie Darko-like) is extremely cathartic, especially after finding out “oh, yeah, the forum’s back after five days down.” But then his parents have to fuck it up again.

Waiting for the thunderstorm to pass so I can go to the office on my weekly run for paperwork and checks.

Ziggy doesn't care a bit about storms, Karm is deaf and can't hear them, Quinn panics for all three of them.

Wondering why for forum went down and what we (as members) can do to help keep it going.

We are working on it.

As a PS - it does cost money to keep the forum up and running and that is something that's been in short supply.

We will have a fresh, new accounting of what that entails soon.  Multiple options are being explored.

But, still, buy Jackalope a drink.

@Jackalope  Cheers!

Looking at kitchen knife sets. I was originally thinking of a Victorinox Fibrox Pro set, as the price is more my speed, but I'm reading good and bad things about them. I've had a Fibrox Pro paring knife for some time, and I really like it, but it doesn't get enough use to make a judgment on long-term use. I just bought their Chef's knife, and that will get a lot more use than the paring knife, so by the time that I'm ready to buy, I'll have some more data to base my decision on. The Fibrox set is $300, which I could swing this year; otherwise, if I go with a higher quality set, I'll likely have to wait until this time next year. If the Chef's knife works well, though, I can save a lot of money going with the Fibrox knives as they're fairly inexpensive.

Sitting back, drinking a beer, thinking about all of the stuff to come after a rough planting season. We're coming back from a historic low in livestock density. Fool me for stepping out of heritage breeds. I won't be done dealing with it for awhile, as there's a looming nitrogen deficiency in my third year field currently under cover. It's not there today...but it's inevitable, and it'll be on my eldest's first year managing the plot. Additionally, the nile hybrids we opted in for didn't sell (nothing sold well this year)..and they're not breeders either. Trial by fire, I guess. I'll get her through it...but The Wife and I are are already looking at beachfront property and a nice 40ft boat. All of this is soon to be somebody else's baby and she and I are going to spend the next thirty or forty chasing mahi in the gulf stream.

Took a decade to build this place, and it's still not an income for four people. I joined the boards and bought a distressed property at pretty muich the same time. Walked out of electronics and into strawberries, lol. In the end, I like to think that my heathens will have the final piece of the idea. I wanna write a book about it, The Wife will provide the pictures. You'll all get the draft if I ever do...I probably wrote some of it here on the boards.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Please give the active members here some support numbers and support options. I understand that some are not financially able, however I think that many are able but do not know/understand the options. Signing up for a monthly Patron support does not fit all peeps, including me (completely personal position).

I know that I've financially checked out for awhile (and have considered forum abandon) because of the mass exodus, lack of support  and Tibs complete absence/interaction.

Edit: Maybe we need to move this to a PM discussion.
