Cutting fabric and just finished another audiobook.  Need to find something else to listen to.

And thinking about lunch since I haven't eaten yet today and know I should.  Not sure what I want though.

I used to work with a girl who woke up already thinking about what she was going to have for lunch...me, I have to force myself to eat something so I can take my vitamins.  Thankfully my medications can be taken on an empty stomach.  Food just isn't that exciting to me...it's a necessary evil in my mind.

I've gotten into history podcasts recently.  If that sound's interesting look up Mike Duncan's History of Rome and Revolutions podcasts.

Pricing 4/6/8 TB enterprise-grade hard drives. I learned over the past week that after having spent $350 on a 4TB SSD, I can instead get by with a smaller SSD and a traditional hard drive which is much cheaper, thanks to some special software. I have two enterprise-grade 4TB drives which would work (I need two for redundancy in case one fails), but they've got stuff on them. I'm not sure I have a reasonably easy way to empty them so they can be reused. I am working on setting up an 8TB and a 16TB file store, but that will take time to get finished, possibly several months.

My thinking on this is a work in progress. Not entirely sure that I'll return the 4TB SSD. It was a good buy, and the wait while the return is getting back to Amazon and being processed gives me considerable anxiety. I returned a $150 SSD a month ago, and UPS accepted it but never actually shipped it back to Amazon. Thankfully Amazon refunded my money anyway. I know what I can do to reduce the odds of another such screw-up, but it still will be anxiety-provoking.

Probably the best thing would be to get cracking on that 8TB file store and return the SSD. I could finish that in 1-3 weeks.

Fuck. I already screwed up the fish. I forgot to season it before I vacuum sealed it and dropped it in the sous vide bath. It was half-cooked by the time I pulled it out to season it and reseal it.

Breaking down and ordering a multimeter. I've not had one for a long time because I use them so infrequently, but I'm in a situation where I really need to test a battery for a computer, and they're quite cheap for a bargain one. Still, I'm being nickel and dimed by convenience items lately, $10 for screws I don't need, $20 for a precision screwdriver set I don't need, $7 for cable extenders for my PC fans, $7 for a couple of power adapters I don't need, $7 for velcro cable ties, $10 for reusable silicone cable ties, $5 for zip ties, $10 for plastic storage containers, $25 for reusable shopping bags, and the list goes on.

Today must be a klutz day for me. So far I have done my daily work, fed the cat and dogs, and vacuumed. Somehow I have two new ugly bruises on my arm...no clue as to WTF I did to myself this time.

Pondering what to do today. The final committee hearing is on at 7:00. I really need to update my budget spreadsheet and such, as in the two weeks since last, it's seen a buttload of new purchases. But computer crap is more my druthers. Making several copies of a 4TB hard disk so I can wipe it (them, there's two in a mirror), and put them to some other use. That means three of the four machines that I'm working on can't be touched until that's done. And I'm leaning more and more toward just playing videogames and farting around until 7:00.

Getting this week's work completed so I can go look in on the grandcats. Granddaughter is touring a college today so she and her parents left last night and won't be home till evening. Like I don't have enough critters to tend to right here I have four more to check on. Two of them are pretty standoffish. Another one eventually comes around...the crazy one flops on the floor for a belly rub every chance she gets...and you can't really ignore her as she flops down right in front of your feet.
