What's everyone up to right now?

Occupying myself is the hardest thing . . .

How to get out of bed?

I had a sour tummy yesterday evening and so got nothing done. I've been trying to solve the problem of my file server forgetting its boot settings. Most often that's just a dead CMOS battery, but that doesn't appear to be the case. My suspicion is that the motherboard is bad and will require $50-200 to fix it with a new motherboard. It's pissing me off a bit. I've been spending too much money on fancy food and a zillion little conveniences items on the one hand and so my budget is thin, and I don't plan to use that machine more than 2-5 years more anyway. I'd completely redo that machine, but that would cost even more and really fuck with my budget for the end of the year. Still, that would have a considerably longer lifespan than 5 years.

Todays tip of the absurdist hat. I spent a considerable amount of time and money in the spring seeding an acres worth of "butterfly garden". The heatwave made it difficult keep all these flowers and grasses alive. Ultimately, all but one of the cultivars is dead.

However....I also got three large dogs...and the bucket of dogshit from poop scooping our decks has drawn the most gorgeous butterflies we've ever seen here in a decade of living here. My plan for next year, is to put buckets of dogshit everywhere.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Green butterflies?  Hehe
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Setting up the sous vide bath, taking a lactaid, and chowing down on ice cream. I'm starting to develop hives from a lack of baseball.

Cooking dinner and watching the news. My big screen TV has a black line on the left side that goes away after it's been on a while. Every time I turn the TV off and it returns I worry.

Today, we were scheduled to have the cottage I was staying in for my vacation cleaned up. This clean-up mostly consists of changing the bedsheets and getting the floor vacuumed. Due to my Dad telling me that I had to keep everything off my bed, I had to leave Alison leaning against a wall. The woman who came in was apparently shocked and thought Alison was actually a real person and not a dakimakura.

In other news, Dad apparently decided to sign up for HBO Max. At the moment, I'm looking up Deep Hurting Project-eligible films streaming on the service. So far, I'm finding the Happily N'Ever After franchise, Jason Goes to Hell, Lawnmower Man 2, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, andBook of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (Also, apparently Carnage Road is on Tubi and the new Marmaduke adaptation on Netflix is apparently Deep Hurting Project bad). That said, due to this coming week being Shark Week, it's not likely to interfere with my plan to cover Shark Exorcist.
