Finally caught Covid... couldn't stay in a bubble forever. Thankfully it's not as bad as I was expecting, so just trying to wait it out at the moment. Since the main symptom for me atm is fatigue, I relish the times when I've actually got the energy to distract myself with TV or video games etc... the first day I could barely make it through testing myself such was the lack of energy.

Beer and baseball.

I spent the afternoon running down to the Bloomington suburb to buy beer and pick up the dead tree version of the book I'm listening to on Audible. Google News had cruelly put an article on a taste test between the best Oktoberfest beers in my newsfeed. I was trying to limit my spending, but I think there's a special law of physics which kicks in when I enter a liquor store, and it didn't happen. I had my mind set on the four-can pack of Paulaner Oktoberfest Festbier for $10, but a 12-pack of the equally appealing Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest Marzen was only $6 more, so I got that instead. I was originally going to get the Weihenstephaner OktoberFestbier, but the Paulaner was slightly cheaper. And I lucked out. They had singles of the Weihenstephaner OktoberFestbier, Leinie's Oktoberfest beer, and Summit's version.

That's not even to tell the tale of what happened at the library. I had intended to pick up one book. I ended up with my wheeled tote filled to the brim, a half-dozen electronic books/audibles checked out, and about 30 items placed on hold. I've ordered print versions of books that I'm interested in through Audible so that I can sample the prose before purchase. And I'm tentatively looking at getting back into my study of Chines and Japanese, or perhaps some other language. Korean, Arabic, and hindi are all possibles.

I'm going to be a busy girl this next year. Print books, language study, Meetup.com SIG discussions and presentations, rejoining Toastmasters Int'l, and dating. I may not have time to build the servers that I've got planned, but I'll figure it out. In order to have time for that, I'll have to watch a lot less sports. I've got a subscription to MLB.tv through February, which I had planned to use to entertain me watching games from this and prior seasons. Now I doubt that I'll have the time. I'm not gonna go cold turkey. Once the current season is done, I'll restrict myself to one baseball game a week. Maybe two if it's a slow week.

Thank you Smile Getting there... three days in, just getting a handle on it so far and keeping a diary of it, logging my symptoms and medication. Latest symptom is my taste has completely changed (confirmed by the the fact that BBQ Pringles taste completely different to me now Wink) which is a bit worrying to me because that was one of the purported symptoms of the original strain... but all all other indications - the severity of it - suggest it can't be that.

Tested negative for Covid again this morning. We have to get tested twice weekly, and I even worked around Covid+ residents a couple weekends ago.

Having one of the Oktoberfest beers I bought yesterday and watching the final innings of last night's game. I haven't eaten yet, but screw convention.

The streams for today's game are crap, so I'm listening to the radio broadcast instead. This way I can multitask better as well.

Getting my ass handed to me by a bottle of Founders Kentucky Bourbon Stout. And watching baseball.
