-I'm trying to work out how I can possibly wrap everything up here to be in Olympia by Jan 1st. Or at least wrap everything up so I can leave my little bro the keys to show the place to bidders. If he won't just buy it himself, fucking useless. He's never going to produce his quota of grandkids for our mom if he doesn't get off his ass and acquire a nest.
As the next to youngest of a brood of seven, I never felt the pressure to provide grandsprogs.

I have about 50 great aunts and uncles - direct relation - on just one side. Soooo many cousins. My grandmother only had two kids, both daughters, my mom and my aunt had four between them, all but one sons. We've all been under alot of pressure to have kids and lots of kids. I get it. We have alot of property, not alot of money, and the houses on the property are emptying out as the grands die off...and with that, we have even less money, lol. There aren't enough of us left to even keep the houses open or the fields productive.
I mean, I'm moving thousands of miles away later this month - I'll never see any of them again realistically, so that's my whole brood zeroed out, at least from their point of view, and this place wont ever be open to us again unless my little bro, who very much knows how to do everything I do and has been doing it basically for free since his birth and is stronger and younger and with no other (adult) concerns...takes it off my hands...at less than cost.
It's family shit. IDK, I guess I'd never really considered it pressure in that way because it's always been what I want too. It's really ripping me up though, the idea that we could build something and try to hand it to my little bro to make him money and he's like...nah. Like he has a big hoard of treasure buried somewhere so he can just say no to shit when he doesn't have shit. Still, that's my bro, there's something stubbornly admirable in refusing to be a property or business owner and family man and...you know, cooking waffles for one instead at minimum wage. I suspect, though.....what he's actually angling for is his big bro not leaving him behind no matter what. That he comes with and cooks waffles there and (still) doesn't find a girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever.
It wasn't easy to get this place built...and no one is going to do this when I leave, I think that's what's really causing all my inner turmoil at present. I know that I'm abandoning it, and I really thought and still think it was worthwhile. There are only two places like it in the state (and fewer than a dozen in the entire united states) and I'm not sure the other one is still in operation. I stopped tracking them (or hearing about them) a couple years back. You know those assholes got onto pbs here and I didn't? So fucked up. If the quarry buys this property we can say goodbye to the creek watershed. I'm the one managing the fucking water. Everything downstream is almost certainly going to end up poison as soon as we fuck off.
OTOH, it's my wife's first shot at a duty station. Just saying the word, I;m sure it sounds silly to people, but hear her say it, she's proud. Government service. She's super tired of feeling like part of the problem and she always wanted to be part of the solution. She aced the exams and crushed the interviews and got an offer at the top range immediately, way more money than I make......we, or I, just can't say no.

Our family is pretty small. Dad only had one brother and one sister and each of them had two kids. So a total of 7 grandkids on dad's side.
Mom had six siblings but most didn't procreate and the ones that did only had one. So I have four cousins on one side and three on the other.
Broke my heart when they sold the family farm. Then the buyer subdivided it and that just killed me. The place I loved most in the world became something unrecognizable.
My aunt said that my other grandparents' house has been replaced with a beach house on stilts. She said she never needed to see it again. I am glad I never will. Her twin found a shady lawyer and sold it out from under her when grandma died and left it to them.
Families are dangerous places.

That shit plagues me. I can't stand the thought of getting bored and hitting google maps in a few years and seeing an apartment complex and two mc mansions where a treatment plant and hatchery and farm used to be. Like..wtf? Are wetrying to kill ourselves?
So that's where I'm at. I love the move. I want to move. What I really enjoy is building places, not.... necessarily... running them. That's a chore. So even I know it's unreasonable to expect anything else..and the whole point of why we set up where we did was because subdivisions were springing up on all these farms - customers with disposable income for premium product - so ofc that;s what would happen eventually one way or another. I'm just silly, is all, a silly...silly human being, going through silly shit. I'll get over it. Thanks for letting me vent.

Since I just realized I forgot to mention it, Dad’s been at home since Monday. No sign of needing to go back since.

Got a new Joy Division shirt in the mail
Hopefully, the art will be a bit hardier on this one than it was with my previous Unknown Pleasures pulsar shirt:
And how long do you think it took for the second shirt to get to that condition? Place your bets here:

Same old job, new facility. But this place is much closer to home, an improvement as far as travel is concerned.

Husband just went out to replace a ginormous fuse for the HVAC. About the time he turned the power off to the house there was a big rumble of thunder. For a second I wondered if he blew something up or it was just coincidence. So far it looks like I won't have to make any arrangements.
Not too bad if it keeps working. A $60.00 part...no service call or labor charges.
