Don't worry, you have nothing to be sorry about.

Not sure if that is the same thing as what the inattentiveness part of ADHD is. Thinking it may be completely understandable due to human nature. I have no clue why you were diagnosed with ADHD if the person who diagnosed you also knew that you were bipolar, except for the fact that is a condition that is overdiagnosed.

I hope it gives you some shred of joy to know that I really do not think you have ADHD and are bipolar. I think you are just bipolar. This may be why I have never heard of ADHD and bipolar disorder being co-morbid. Because basically, to say a person has both of those things happening at the same time is somewhat redundant and extremely stupid, because some of the characteristics that define bipolar disorder and ADHD are the same, and also more but I'm not sure what the more is because I am really tired.

Well, damn. I have not. That sucks.

Okay. I think very soon from now will be the time that I finally close this fucking laptop and proceed to go the FUCK to sleep. I am now up even later than I was yesterday, and I do not want to be up this late. DAMN.

However, small victories, I think now I understand exactly why Kudos are so damned important to me.

Oh, god, wait, I have one more thing to say. I simply must tell the internet how fantastic my cat is, regardless of if anyone actually reads this. While all of this craziness going on with me has been happening, tonight, my cat got in my lap while I was lying in bed. She has never done this before. I'm pretty sure this is because cats do FUCKING possess empathy (or at least my cat does) and somehow she knows that this is a situation that calls for her sitting in my lap, because that is so inherently fucking wonderful and comforting, a cat sitting in your lap. And not only that. She kept mewing at me, not in any way different from how she normally mews, but I don't think she has ever mewed before while she was in my lap. The only reason I can think of right now that she might do this was because she was concerned. So in response I told her, "It's okay, baby. It's okay." Because in spite of everything, overall, it is all okay. And then she mewed a few more times and then she stopped, so maybe she understood the sentiment of what I was trying to communicate to her. In fact, she has been glued to me all night. Not sure if this is something that is unique to tonight or if really, this is because that is how attached my cat and I are to each other.

Now, ladies and gentleman, is my cat not fucking fantastic? Maybe all cats are fantastic, I don't know right now. All I know is that mine definitely is.

OK, from my point of view, I have never previously since I started posting here had a PERSONAL problem with any other forum member. Wait, I have, and that problem is that Shell B is a bitch, but I digress.

The point is, right now, I have one. And it is completely justified, but it sucks. That is all.

Okay, I know I am complaining a lot, but I am just genuinely coping with what is happening to me the best way I know how.

I just realized that my lamp was still on. If I had turned it off ages ago, it might have been the thing that would make the difference that would have caused me to be able to sleep ages ago.

But now, the sun is up. I'm not even going to go into detail about this, I am just going to say that this is a horrible thing for me right now because I am so completely hypersensitive to light and it so completely fucks me up that I genuinely prefer to never be awake during those hours of the day when the sun is out.

BUT... it is still a possibility that I could achieve my goal minutes from now of going the FUCK to sleep.

My favorite roommate from college was, and still is, both ADHD and Bipolar. She only takes medicine for ADHD, at least last time I talked to her. To be fair, Bipolar could be her whole problem and the ADHD meds just help with distractability and attention.

Okay, what I think you mean is that you know someone else who had been diagnosed as both ADHD and having bipolar disorder. You are not actually trying to say that you know objectively that she has both ADHD and bipolar disorder at the same time. Right?

Sorry for putting the things you said out of their original order. It was the best way I could think of to communicate the idea that I think I am understanding you because the combination of these things that you said.

Why the hell would that be? Is her bipolar disorder somehow not enough of a problem for her that it would not be worth it to be on medication to treat her bipolar disorder?

Because from what I understand, if you are someone who is bipolar, because of what it is to be bipolar, it is ALWAYS the case that it would be a good idea to take medication for it.

Wait, maybe I understand. Does she just not WANT to take her medication? Some people that have bipolar disorder think that it makes them more insightful in some way (which might possibly be true) or like that when they're manic, it makes them more creative, or just decide that being bipolar is just the way that they are, and it is totally OK.

WAIT, forgot to thank you for posting here, not just because of what it means to me that you cared enough about something I said to comment about it but for the simple fact that I did not want there to be a possibility that this entire page would just be me with this thing that is happening right now.

She was diagnosed by professionals as having ADHD and Bipolar, I am simply leaving it open to possibility that she just has Bipolar since the symptoms also are similar to ADHD. She refuses bipolar meds altogether, not wanting to have to go through the motions of finding a good mood stabilizer.

Once you get passed the realm of ADHD and depression and go into things like Bipolar, the medicine becomes a bit more shaky in the eyes of people (and, partially, it is reality).

And anytime, futile, your sleep deprived raves don't scare me away from posting Tongue

I'm battling a wine hangover today. I love wine but I always drink too much.

Yep, I was assuming that the diagnosis was made by professionals, but unfortunately I know that in this case, that is probably not a reason to think that she was correctly diagnosed. Do you know how many people are wrongly diagnosed, just in general? It's staggering. And the the degree to which it is true that this specific thing is a thing that could be wrongly diagnosed? High. And there are a lot of reasons for that which I do not feel the need to go into right now.

OHHHHHHHHH... I imagine finding the one that works for the individual is potentially a very long process. I just thought that she has probably known she has been bipolar long enough that by now, she would already found the one that works for her.

Hmm. Okay, I will take your word for that.

Well, that's good, because that is why I think there is not more forum activity going on right now, because in general it seems that no matter what time of day it is, there is more activity than this.

Yeah, ADHD and Bipolar are the big misdiagnosed illnesses and it blows my mind. As soon as professionals find out something exists they rush to diagnose, we saw that with ADHD in children and nowadays we are seeing it with bipolar as well (PBS had an AWESOME, balanced, special regarding this subject).

She has known since teenage years that she is bipolar, but yeah the meds are scary to people. She takes ADHD meds, but is scared of bipolar meds. I was on ADHD meds, became psychotic, and was scared shitless of anti-psychotics. It did not help that the first time I caved in and tried an anti-psychotic (zyprexa), I started tripping balls and nobody running the psych ward believed me. But yeah, while people tend to view ADHD and depression meds as "stupid" or "WHY CANT YOU PEOPLE JUST HANDLE THIS WITHOUT MEDS", there is a more pronounced fear of anything that goes beyond the familiar realm of anti-depressants and stimulants.

So kinda pissy right now. Sleep-deprived and me and mum got into about the "b" (blind) word again. She thinks because I can still tell night from day and "see" movement kinda sorta not really (It's one of those things I cant find words for) I shouldn't call myself blind even though I see mostly dark, I use a white cane, and I've been a part of blind culture for a few years. What does she want?! Well I take that back I know what she wants. A daughter who isn't relearning her entire life. But it's not like I woke up one day decide "Hey, how am I going to be huge burden on my family that already thinks I'm a snob?"

This is called "blindsight" I believe. Some studies on the subject were only done with people blind on one side, others completely blind. I watched a video of a blind dude maneuver around objects. Something to do with a reptilian part of our brain that recognizes motion and objects, if I recall correctly.

Oh, and your mom is in denial.
