Planning to vote today. As of yet, I haven't gotten up off my ass.

I got my vote in. I kept going back and enlarging the circle for my vote for president. I was neurotically obsessed with the fear that my vote would not end up being counted if I missed even a sliver of white in blackening the oval. This is despite living in a perennially blue state, and a perennially blue part of that state. I've probably never cast a vote that actually mattered, yet I worry incessantly about my vote.

I gave some thought to voting here, as it's much closer than the poll I normally use, but I had a hunch it would be busy. There was no waiting where I voted.

Husband came home and let me know he had taken the rest of the week off. I will have to go to the real office tomorrow or Thursday but five days of togetherness is more than I am prepared to endure without warning.

Dry brining a steak. This is the second steak where the seal on the vacuum bag failed. I caught the first while sealing. It's lucky that I'm cooking this steak tonight, as it wouldn't last long after thawing without a good seal.

Planning our road trip going back to our home in Mexico. Fighting amongst factions of the Sinaloa cartel in and around Culiacán has made our usual route too risky so we're crossing in New Mexico and taking an unfamilar inland route.

Tempering some pork tenderloin. Cubing and vacuum sealing some chicken. They had thin sliced chicken breasts marked down to $2.99 a pound, and then 50% off that. Hard to pass up.

I was surprised when I opened the tenderloin. I didn't realize it was two tenderloins, though I should have known better. This is one of the few times when a dual probe thermometer would be handy.

I still haven't tried out my new wireless meat thermometer. I've been too short on time to figure it out.
