I have long since lost the ability to keep any remotely not-heavy item on a cat-accessible table-like surface. The only thing I can keep on my night stand is my alarm clock, and even that has to be securely fastened to the surface. All lights have to be clip-ons, all books have to be kept in drawers or stuffed tightly into a shelf so they cats can't work them free and knock them all down, all knick knacks have to be out of feline reach. For a time I could placate Rudy by littering my night stand with cat toys I didn't care if he knocked off, but he figured out that I didn't care about them and started clawing me in the face to wake me up instead. That one backfired. :p

Wishing I had a mega-more-powerful computer... it's taking way too long to convert a 5.5GB 1080p StarWars episode VI to occupy only 1.35GB, while retaining most of the video quality (Time remaining ~05h46; Time elapsed ~18h57)
Episode V already took some 20hours... but Episode IV only took about 8 hours... The results, thus far, have been indistinguishable from the 5.5GB "originals".
