Trying not to go crazy while looking after my father for a couple weeks. I'm past hump day. Four more days to go. Actually, it hasn't been so bad, mostly because I'm doing big projects for him while I'm here. Windows washed, carpet steam vacced, garage clean, dinners made and frozen. . .

Having a little nostalgia over Friends. Freaking out a little bit because it debuted 20 years ago. 20 years. Things aren't supposed to happen 20 years ago for me. I'm not old enough for that.

Preparing my next step in my war against the local utility over $800 that they owe me (which they acknowledge, by have failed to deliver). If they don't resolve it to my satisfaction on my next call with them, my next move is to contact the state utility commissioner and my congresswoman.

Ah, the life of a cargo ship agent! Instead of being asleep in my warm bed, I'm on a vessel, fighting sleep and trying to stay warm. Why? Because the Captain had a melt down with the stevedores and called me, insisting that I come ASAP to help smooth over the issue. Predictably, after the 90 minute drive to the terminal, I arrived to find the situation more or less satisfactorily resolved. There was no reason to drive home because I would have had to turn around and come back when cargo is finished anyway. And so -- here I sit, waiting for the end of loading so I can conduct the usual business involved with a vessel completing cargo -- but without the much needed few hours of rest I thought I would get.

Thanks, Captain. And that bottle of scotch you are planning to lay on me at departure? Best make it two, my excitable Greek friend. Two.

Sorta wigging out over this revelation. I feel rather old, too (I'm 38, which is older than some, but younger than many as well. Isn't it? WELL, ISN'T IT?!?!?!?1111ONEONEUNOEIN).

It's 4:27am. I woke up about an hour ago. That means I am having insomnia. I am, probably as a result, having a stare-on with this smilie: . Just too freakin' mesmerizing.

Already hungry for brekky. Not cool. Maybe I'll have some Triscuits instead? save the toast and homefries for later?

Drinking coffee. I finished my book. Which is why I put the coffee on. I thought I had more left to read, but I had stopped at the last page the last reading spell.

Also drinking coffee, Seattle's Best purchased on sale yesterday. I discovered this morning that it's decaf.

Nursing my sore body after, drunkenly and without stretching first, doing handstands with my friend's eleven-year-old last night. It feels like my arms are gonna fall out and I might have torn an inner thigh muscle slightly. Jeebus Crust, I'm thirty eight! What was I thinking?
