I didn't know the family nearly as well as CD did. But, we had a few dinner parties and their son was there often. We all played cards against humanity recently. The kids was really intelligent, funny, respectful.

I went through the anger last night. Still am. It's not fucking fair. Drunk drivers and many other friends kids have survived... It's not fair. This breaks my heart for their loss.

Trying to get up and get motivated today. It's been more of a struggle than it is normally. I feel heavy and weepy.

When someone says this to you - "there's no way to make sense of this" - it sounds trite and empty. The reality of it is that it's true.

People die, we mourn them, and each day it perhaps is a little less painful - but it's still senseless. There ia no answer to the question of "why?".

As for D&B, their lives have been upended, their only child's life cut tragically short - when I think of that, my own grief feels so insignificant. I feel guilty for it. It feels wrong. How fucked up is that?

So, if someone you knew was getting paid to act as a medical carer for someone else you know, and they have a set number of hours they're contracted for each week, of which they do less than half, offer no actual care, and yet are happy to cash the checks coming in anyway... you wouldn't be crazy for looking to replace that person, yeah? In fact, you'd be entirely justified in doing so, since the inadequate care from this "Carer" is preventing our hypothetical patient from actually receiving they care they need, right?

And the fact that the "Carer" is dirt poor and needs the money wouldn't change that fact, yes? Because they're toying with the health of another person for fraudulent monetary gain?

Why the fuck do I feel like the bad guy for putting my foot down on this? I'm not just being an asshole, am I?

In this case their lazy arse is probably the reason "carer" is dirt poor.

So guess who decided that being asked to do the job they were paid to do is such an immense, unreasonable imposition that it's worth throwing a huge tantrum over, and then withholding needed medical care from her own daughter in order to punish her?

She's lost relationships with every child she has now, but I'm sure it's a problem with each of us individually, right?

Hope that visceral, punitive pleasure was worth it: I wouldn't piss on that despicable woman if she were on fire, right now.
